DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities:
• Support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of project activities to achieve the project’s objectives on deforestation-free cocoa supply chains.
• Support the project team to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including cocoa producers, cooperatives, local communities, government agencies, NGOs, and private sector partners.
• Support the project team to develop and deliver training programs for cocoa producers on sustainable farming practices, agroforestry, and deforestation prevention. Ensuring gender and youth inclusion is mainstreamed in all activities.
• Contribute to the tracking of the project’s progress against set targets, data collection, and preparation of regular reports to ensure the project remains on track and delivers the desired outcomes. Ensure producer feedback mechanisms are in place and strong documentation of project learning and good practices for wider dissemination.
• Prepare and disseminate communication materials to raise awareness about the project’s goals and achievements among stakeholders and the general public. Ensuring individual’s consent and data protection measures are in place.
• Support the overseeing of the project’s budget expenditures, ensuring efficient use of resources and compliance with donor requirements.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Qualifications and Experience:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Agriculture, Forestry, Development Studies, or a related field. A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
• Experience:
At least 5 years of experience in project management, with a focus on sustainable agriculture, forestry, or environmental conservation.
Experience working in the cocoa sector or with smallholder farmers in Ghana is highly desirable. Experience with gender and youth inclusive programmes is also highly desirable.
• Skills:
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building abilities.
- Knowledge of sustainable farming practices, agroforestry, and deforestation prevention, as well as gender and youth inclusion.
- Proficient in monitoring and evaluation techniques.
- Strong communication and advocacy skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a multicultural environment.
- Fluency in English is required; proficiency in local languages is an advantage.
