Reports to: Lead Consultant (Qualitative)
Period of work: 5 workdays
Locations: Kebbi, Niger, Kaduna, Benue, Ebonyi, Cross-River, and Delta state
Background
- The Moderator will facilitate focus group discussions and administer in-dept interviews during the USAID Feed the Future Nigeria Agricultural Extension & Advisory Services Activity annual survey for FY24.
- The project works to increase smallholder farmers’ productivity, incomes, and household nutrition status in Kebbi, Niger, Kaduna, Benue, Ebonyi, Cross-River, and Delta states of Nigeria through strengthening sustainable agricultural extension and advisory services.
- The project particularly focuses on aquaculture, cowpea, maize, rice, and soybean value chains.
Essential Responsibilities
- Participate in training of the data collection team.
- Facilitate FGDs and administer key informants’ interviews.
- Support generation of interview transcript for all interviews administered.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in sociology/rural development, agricultural economics, economics statistics, or related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working on similar assignments
- Excellent facilitation and interviewing skills.
- Strong interviewing techniques including ability to probe and ask follow-up questions
- Fluency in local language/dialect and respect for ethics
