Are you a Fully qualified chartered accountant with ACCA, ACA, CPA, or equivalent? Tearfund South Sudan Programme has an exciting role of Senior Finance Manager for a professional and qualified Accountant.

As a key member of the Country’s Senior Management Team, the Senior Finance Manager (SFM) provides strategic financial leadership, ensuring that Tearfund’s financial strategy aligns with the country’s overall objectives and supports the expansion of the funding portfolio. The SFM will lead initiatives in change management, process improvement, and robust financial management within the Country Programme.

The Senior Finance Manager is accountable for all financial operations, including comprehensive grant management, audits (both internal and external), statutory reporting, partner financial management, budgeting (both corporate and donor-related), financial risk management, treasury management, and management accounting. Serving as the primary finance business partner to the Country Director (CD), the SFM is expected to offer proactive, responsive financial support, analysis, and guidance to the Country Leadership Team.

The role requires close collaboration with regional and global finance teams to ensure that Tearfund’s and donors’ financial policies and procedures are effectively implemented in the Country Programme. Additionally, the SFM will be responsible for the training and development of in-country finance staff and maintaining strong relationships with external stakeholders, including donors, auditors, banks, among others.

Do you have proven experience of:

  • Finance leadership
  • Financial planning, budgeting and financial risk management
  • Financial management of high compliance institutional donor funds (USAID, EU/ECHO, BMZ, FCDO, UN, etc.)
  • Designing and implementing financial controls, procedures and process improvement
  • Implementing projects through local partners
  • Team leadership and line management experience
  • Mentoring, training and development staff (finance and non-finance)

Are you:

  • Able to accommodate changing priorities and to remain calm under pressure.
  • Able to demonstrate skills in working cross culturally
  • Able to communicate excellently complex financial data to non-finance staff
  • An excellent leader with strong management and organising skills
  • Are you fluent in English

Tearfund is a UK Christian relief and development agency which works in over 50 countries. It is a member of the Disasters Emergency Committee.Tearfund supports poor communities, marginalised groups, vulnerable adults, children, churches, education, HIV victims, conflicts, injustice, hunger, water and sanitation.

The charity was created out of the Evangelical Alliance (EA) and the Evangelical Refugee Fund created by the United Nations.

The organisation was originally called The Evangelical Alliance Relief Fund Committee (abbreviated to TEAR Fund).

George Hoffman headed up the fund.[In January 1969 Cliff Richard did two fundraising concerts for Tearfund at London's Royal Albert Hall.:29 He has served as the charity's Vice President and in 1999 served as its president.In 2009 Richard gave the proceeds of his first 50th anniversary concert in Wembley Arena to Tearfund.

Tearfund was registered as a charity on 6 March 1973.

Tearfund Ireland was launched as an independent charity in 2008 and now works closely with Tearfund UK as a sister organisation.
