About the position

The Associate 2, Communications will support communications in African countries where ITDP is actively involved, developing video stories, blogs, and newspaper op-eds. The Associate also will assist with the design of publications and infographics. Staying in close communications with ITDP team members in the Africa region, the Associate will compile project updates, prepare newsletters, maintain contact lists, and assist with other regular communications activities. The Associate will report to the Communications Manager while working closely with ITDP team members across the region.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of social media collateral, blogs, and newspaper op-eds.
  • Assist in organising regional workshops, events, and meetings.
  • Assist in designing publications and graphics in Adobe InDesign and Adobe Illustrator.
  • Maintain the Africa office photo database.
  • Maintain a stakeholder database.
  • Send out regular newsletter updates and reports about developments in the Africa region.
  • Assist in sending out weekly reports in the Africa office.
  • Translate content.
  • Perform any other task assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, film production, public relations, development communications, or related field.  eczBYC4 BTn6yA
  • At least three years of relevant professional experience. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. 
  • Excellent graphic design skills. 
  • Familiarity with Adobe InDesign and Adobe Illustrator required. 
  • Familiarity with WordPress and video editing software preferred. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects with flexibility, work well under pressure, and keep to deadlines. 
  • Ability to maintain high standards while contributing pragmatic ideas. 
  • Strong commitment to advancing ITDP’s mission and to environmental and social justice. 
  • Availability to travel frequently.
