About the role

ITAR Consultants is a network of professionals providing services to humanitarian and development actors – including NGOs, development agencies, foundations, UN agencies and public authorities. Our team includes academics, senior consultants and former sector-specific NGO staff. Together, we provide the company with the highest methodology standards, cost-effective and agile approaches, and recommendations anchored to the field.

We provide research, evaluation and monitoring services to support community-based projects globally. We are currently looking to build a roster of national consultants in Madagascar to support our services in the country. National consultants will be involved in tasks including:

  • Depending on sectoral expertise, providing advice on the methodology
  • Reviewing and/or translating data collection tools
  • Conducting individual interviews with informants, facilitating focus group discussions and implementing surveys
  • Training and coordinating enumerators when relevant
  • Reviewing, translating and compiling all data collected
  • Depending on sectoral expertise, provide input into final analysis

About you

To join our roster of national consultants, you should have the following qualification and experience:

  • 5 to 9 years of experience in research-related roles (e.g. for NGOs, government, consultancies or in academia)
  • Expertise in one of the following sectors: governance, migration, livelihoods, environment and climate change, food security, health, gender and youth
  • Fluency in Malagasy and in French or English
  • Experience with collecting data among different audiences, including vulnerable profiles
  • Excellent communication skills to keep the team and client informed of progress
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and initiative to work independently
  • Track record of meeting deadlines and completing assignments successfully
  • Be based in Madagascar and have the right to work in the country
