A day in the life of a Commodity Manager:

At Samaritans Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do! We start each day with a time of devotions and spend time praying for each other, our staff and volunteers who serve around the globe.

In the role of Commodity Manager, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
  • The Commodity Manager is responsible for the planning, receipt, storage, handling, tracking, allocation, and distribution of all program commodities under the Roving Response Program.
  • The role ensures effective and accountable management of relief items including food, Non-Food Items (NFIs), shelter materials, and other emergency supplies in line with donor regulations, organizational policies, and humanitarian standards.
  • The position provides leadership in commodity pipeline management, warehouse operations, distribution planning, inventory control, and reporting to ensure timely and efficient delivery of humanitarian assistance to affected populations in emergency and disaster contexts.
  • Directly supervises four (4) non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Samaritans Purse policies and applicable laws.
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Procurement, or a related field is required. A Masters degree is an added advantage. The candidate should have a minimum of five (5) years experience in supply chain, logistics, or commodity management, preferably in humanitarian emergency response or fragile contexts. Experience managing large-scale commodity pipelines, emergency distributions, and warehouse operations is required. Experience in emergency response logistics and distributions. Prior experience with INGOs, faith-based organizations, or UN agencies is highly desirable, and experience in South Sudan or similar humanitarian contexts is an added advantage; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong supply chain and commodity management skills
  • Excellent warehouse and inventory control expertise
  • Experience in emergency response logistics and distributions
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environments
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required); if not already completed, opportunity to meet and complete requirement is available upon hire.

Travel Expectations: Travel Expectation: 80-100 days/annually; required travel documents and vaccinations for entry into foreign countries will be necessary
