Our team of dedicated and highly qualified professionals work tirelessly to extend vital care and support to underprivileged children, families and communities in Johannesburg. JCW believes that if our children suffer, our community and society suffers too and we therefore seek to build a society where children are cared for and parents and caregivers are supported, creating an atmosphere where our children can grow up strong, safe and happy.Through our various services, centres and initiatives, we effectively reach more than 40 000 beneficiaries on an annual basis. Our OVC Forum allows us to reach a further 23 000 people. JCW faces a massive challenge in its dealings with children and related communities and it is unlikely that the size, complexity and scope of this challenge will diminish in the near future.

Jo’burg Child Welfare (JCW) is driven by the belief that every human being deserves a childhood free from abuse and neglect. For over 100 years JCW has assisted children who have been abused, abandoned, neglected, consented for adoption, orphaned or made vulnerable (including the many who are infected with or have been affected by HIV and AIDS).In carrying out our caring, advocacy and protection activities, we are proud to say that our organisation is run according to the highest corporate governance parameters. JCW’s role is of paramount importance in South Africa, both now and in the future, and will become increasingly more so.
Jo'burg Child Welfare is a non-profit organisation caring for abused, abandoned, neglected, orphaned and vulnerable children for 100 years. Over that time we have increased our services to deal with a myriad of issues facing our children, their families and communities. Jo'burg Child Welfare relies heavily on the generosity of individuals to help them to bring hope and purpose to the lives of children in our care. Our services and projects include a day care centre that assists youth and gogo-headed households caring for children who have been orphaned by HIV, a children's home for abused, abandoned and neglected children, an adoption home, foster-care supervision, a life-skills and economic empowerment centre helping young girls and women living on Jo'burg's inner city streets, child protection services and statutory services for children who have been neglected, orphaned, abused or made vulnerable by HIV or AIDS, as well as an active advocacy programme through which we lobby for children's rights within the government.
