Abraham Kriel Childcare (AKC) is a registered NPO providing both residential care and community services withinabout us image Gauteng. AKC focuses on providing shelter, care and rehabilitation for children between the ages of birth and 18 years old, who have been subjected to trauma, abuse, molestation, poverty and neglect. Currently AKC operates 21 (incl. baby unit) houses for children and carries out 6 community care programmes that provide food, shelter, pastoral care, remedial care, social services, skills development services and early childhood development. Our activities include: Care in a normal home setup for abused, molested, abandoned and neglected children. Support for children whose lives have been ruined by Aids. Our organisation is growing rapidly in this regard. Early childhood development and outreach programmes to disadvantaged communities with the aim of preventing family disintegration. Skills development for youth that need to access the marketplace. In all our approaches we are connected to long term, comprehensive care which touches and strengthens all our children, so that they have the opportunity to lead productive and fulfilling lives.
