Management Sciences for Health (MSH) is seeking an Accountant for a recently-awarded 5-year USAID supply chain and pharmaceutical management project in Ethiopia. The purpose is to provide comprehensive technical assistance to strengthen the health supply chain and pharmaceutical services in select geographic areas in Ethiopia, both of which are cornerstones to achieve critical life-saving priorities.

About the Role

The Account ant will be responsible for assisting the Director of Finance and Admin istration with safeguarding the assets (financial and physical) of MSH and ultimately the U.S. Government or other donor against fraud, loss or misuse. The Account ant will be responsible for ensuring that any money expended in the Country is done in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, MSH policy, and any cost principles imposed by the donor agency. The Account ant is primarily responsible for, but is not limited to, p reparing payment vouchers , ensuring proper record keeping, activity advance reconciliations, and supporting the Director of Finance and Admin istration in VAT, WHT and other relevant Tax reporting. The Account ant is aware of and adheres to MSH’s procurement integrity standards in all activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: University degree in accounting, business administration or a similar field

Experience:

  • At least three ( 3 ) years of experience
  • Experience in working with donor-funded projects and general understanding of their rules and regulations are preferred

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Work experience with projects supported by international organizations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel spreadsheets
  • Ability to use basic accounting software ( i.e. QuickBooks) or comparable software
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with a service-oriented outlook ecJ8Xyl BTn6yA
  • Verbal and written language skills in English required including speaking, writing, understanding, and reading and the ability to conduct business in English
  • Ability to demonstrate good judgement in financial review
  • Excellent communication skills

Competencies:

  • Ability to review and prepare payment vouchers and also code all transactions properly
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment while driving results
  • C reative in problem solving
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to reconcile advances, including review of receipts and other submissions and process vendor and participant payments
  • Understanding of the basic tenets of Cash Control, Asset Management and Bank Reconciliation
