Background:

The African Climate Foundation (ACF) is the first and only African-led climate change re-granting organisation on the continent. Through its grant making and thought leadership, the ACF seeks to support interventions at the nexus of climate change and development that have the greatest potential to deliver long-term socio-economic transformation and inclusive development.

Purpose:

The Grants Administrator will support the Senior Partnerships & Grants Manager to ensure effective grant management processes and a high level of compliance and organisation for the ACF’s fundraising and re-granting processes. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates who have a relevant tertiary qualification and at least 3 years’ work experience in a grants function, ideally within a foundation. They will be self-motivated, an excellent communicator and have a high level of competence on MS Office The ability to multi-task, pay attention to detail and work under pressure are essential.

Responsibilities:

Grant application process

  • Participate and contribute to the continuous improvement of the ACF grant application process and grants cycles.
  • Assist grantees with grant applications, including the online process.
  • With grants manager, produce a high-quality summary of Proposals for Review meetings.
  • Compile grant applicant’s CIO forms for authorisation by Executive Director.
  • Generate draft grant agreements for Board Meetings.

Grant approval

  • Approve projects on the grant management system and file relevant documentation.
  • Generate draft grant agreements.
  • Check that the objectives, activities, and budget in the grant agreement corresponds with the approved Board recommendation.

Grants compliance

  • Ensure the grants management system and filing is kept up to date according to protocols.
  • Monitor and track grant agreements, amendments, progress reports and no cost extensions.
  • Capture progress report dates on the grants management system.
  • Notify grantees of reporting due dates, disseminate reports to programmes team and keep the record of reports received up to date.
  • Assist Finance with annual audit preparation and provide information to auditors as required.

Closing date: 15 February 2022
Duration: Contract up to 31 December 2023 with possible extension
