Champion the Voices of Sudan’s People: Lead Humanitarian Advocacy for Sudan

At CARE, we believe that humanitarian response is not only about delivering aid — it’s about standing up for dignity, justice, and humanity. As we respond to one of the most complex crises of our time, we are looking for an Advocacy Advisor who can transform compassion into influence, and evidence into impact.

This is your opportunity to shape the global conversation on Sudan, ensuring that the rights and needs of women, men, and children affected by crisis are at the heart of humanitarian action.

Your Mission

As our Advocacy Advisor, you will be at the forefront of humanitarian action, leading coordinated advocacy efforts that drive real change. You will represent CARE on the global stage, working alongside UN agencies, NGOs, and donors to ensure crisis-affected communities—particularly women and girls—receive the protection and support they deserve under international law.

This isn’t a desk job. You will craft evidence-based advocacy positions, influence key decision-makers, and build bridges with local partners to ensure our advocacy is grounded in lived realities. From coordinating with peer organizations to developing compelling policy briefs, you will be the strategic voice ensuring principled humanitarian action, safe access, and locally-led responses remain at the heart of Sudan’s crisis response.

What You will Do

  • Lead and coordinate CARE’s humanitarian advocacy strategy for Sudan, ensuring that global and local actions are aligned and effective.
  • Represent CARE in key coordination forums, including UN, INGO, and donor platforms, building strong coalitions for change.
  • Develop powerful advocacy messages that promote principled humanitarian access, protection of civilians, and gender equality.
  • Collaborate with local actors and women-led organizations to ensure advocacy is rooted in community realities and supports locally led solutions.
  • Produce high-quality analysis, policy briefs, and position papers that inform global humanitarian decision-making.
  • Strengthen CARE’s internal advocacy capacity, supporting teams with training, coordination, and strategic communication.
  • Engage donors and key partners, crafting clear, compelling narratives on CARE’s response and priorities in Sudan.

Why This Role Matters

Every advocacy brief you write, every stakeholder meeting you lead, every partnership you build brings us closer to a world where humanitarian principles are upheld and vulnerable communities receive the support they need and deserve. This is your opportunity to turn policy into action and advocacy into impact.

Required Qualifications:

Who You Are:

You bring 5+ years of humanitarian advocacy experience at country or regional level, ideally in the region, with a degree in international affairs, law, humanitarian studies, social sciences, or related field.

You have:

• Deep knowledge of humanitarian architecture and protection programming
• Understanding of Sudan’s current context and crisis dynamics
• A proven track record designing advocacy initiatives and conducting impactful research
• Outstanding analytical abilities and diplomatic skills across cultures
• Excellent English writing and speaking skills (Arabic is a strong plus)
• The organizational prowess to juggle priorities, meet tight deadlines, and thrive under pressure

Most importantly: You are driven by justice, skilled at strategic influence, and ready to make a tangible difference for communities in crisis.

Preferred Qualifications:

– Masters Degree in a relevant field
