HIVSA is a not for profit company which was established in 2002 with a full time staff compliment of over 100 members and is a strategic partner of the Gauteng Provincial Departments of Health and Social Development. HIVSA empowers individuals, community workers and organisations by developing their capacity and resilience to effectively address socio-economic and health issues in the context of high HIV and AIDS burden with the ultimate vision of creating an HIV free generation.

HIVSA seeks to recruit a Bookkeeper to be based in Johannesburg.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the proper filing, archiving and safeguarding of original financial records
  • Prepare the Payment Requisition making sure that all signatures, Invoices, original registers and any other documents required for compliance is attached
  • Ensure accounting information queries, inconsistencies, and/or missing information are resolved
  • Assist with UIF online updates on a monthly basis
  • Capture on Pastel Evolution
  • Monthly Bank reconciliations
  • Monthly Invoicing for Donors charges and for CBOs payments
  • Monthly Donors Reports “Budget vs Actual”
  • Assist with Statutory Reports (VAT, PAYE)
  • Assist with monthly Payroll
  • Assist with any compliance related requests
  • Assist in maintaining HIVSA assets registers in terms of both statutory and donor requirements, also assist with physical count and labelling
  • Assist the Finance Department Team during Internal or external Audit
  • Assist the Finance Department Team with any other ad hoc requests

Requirements:

  • Matric certificate
  • Minimum of two years’ experience on Pastel Evolution
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel (including use of formulas) and Word. User of emails and Internet
  • A minimum of one years’ work experience in a computer accounting related position or other closely related position or
  • A combination of education, training and experience which provides the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the position’s essential duties and responsibilities
  • Knowledge of accounting methodologies and procedures
  • Ability to operate spread sheets, and database programs
  • Maintain confidentiality of all company information
  • Interact and maintain good working relationships
  • Communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally or in writing
  • Detail and accuracy oriented
  • Time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Sound decision making and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and also within a team setting
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and excellent patterns of communication
