We are seeking a Chief of Party to join our International Projects team in Upper Nile and Unity State, South Sudan.Through humanitarian work, the goal and purpose of Samaritans Purse are to help people in Jesus name and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
In the role of Chief of Party,you will have the opportunity to:
- Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him.
- Provide overall strategic leadership and direction for the Roving Response Program, ensuring integrated and high-quality multi-sector emergency programming across Food Assistance, WASH, Health & Nutrition, Shelter, and NFIs in line with organizational and donor priorities.
- Oversee technical and operational implementation across all sectors through Program Managers, ensuring timely delivery, achievement of targets, budget compliance, and adherence to Sphere Standards and Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS).
- Manage the grant budget within approved spending levels, and ensure accurate and timely financial reports to donors and to appropriate Samaritans Purse South Sudan and International Headquarters staff.
- Discuss plans and strategies with relevant stakeholders, including government authorities, UN agencies, other humanitarian actors, and Samaritans Purse partners, to ensure proper understanding and coordination of project objectives.
- Make regular visits to project field sites, providing staff support, addressing programmatic challenges, and exploring future program possibilities.
- Directly supervises 5-10 non-supervisory employees 2 supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Samaritans Purse policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

What are the qualifications?

As a qualified candidate, you will have the following skills and experience:
- A Bachelors degree in International Development, Humanitarian Assistance, Public Health, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or related field is required. A Masters degree is highly preferred. The candidate should have at least eight (8) years of experience in humanitarian or emergency response programming, including a minimum of five years in program management or leadership roles. Proven experience managing multi-sector programs in fragile or conflict-affected contexts is required. Strong experience working with INGOs, donors, and coordination structures is essential. Experience in South Sudan or similar humanitarian environments is a strong advantage; or equivalent combination of education or experience
- Working knowledge of cultural, ethnic, and social dynamics affecting program acceptance, community engagement, and beneficiary targeting.
- General knowledge of remote field operations in flood-prone, conflict-affected, and logistically constrained environments and contingency planning, pre-positioning strategies, and early warning/early action systems.
- Advanced knowledge of emergency response programming across Health, Nutrition, WASH, Food Security & Livelihoods (FSL), and Protection in fragile and conflict-affected settings.
- Comprehensive knowledge of senior-level leadership in multi-sector humanitarian programs, including managing large, multi-disciplinary teams across dispersed field locations and rapid emergency response design, including needs assessments, surge deployment models, and adaptive programming in acute crises.
