The Opportunity
The purpose of this position is to lead implementation of the child protection policy and program at the PA and/or refugee camp. It also is intended to ensure to support and linkages to the HTP and other country emergency response programs.
The post holder is responsible for the deliveries of results in line with pre-agreed program planes and objectives and oversee the implementation of the child protection policy in the PA and contribute towards achieving the country program goal of improved protection mechanisms and community practices against harmful traditional practices and violence against children. Plan International Ethiopia has put in place a child protection policy that all of its staff must adhere to and sign.
Safeguarding Children and Young People (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)
- Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.
- Ensures that the team members under supervision are properly inducted on and understands their role in upholding Plan International’s safeguarding and GEI policies;
- Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day-to-day work.
- Ensures that Plan Ethiopia contributes to Plan International’s global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI, including making sure that relevant reporting and data are submitted.
The Individual
- A minimum of 3 years of humanitarian aid experience applied in emergency/ recovery response operations preferably in the area of child protection and youth program Activity
- excellent knowledge of Child Protection and SGBV minimum standards and basic principles; Good knowledge of SGBV and Child Protection case management
- Excellent knowledge of basic child protection and youth principles and child & adult development and learning
- Good knowledge of donor grants and contract regulations.
