The Opportunity
Plan International Sudan aims to respond effectively, rapidly, and at a significant scale to the core humanitarian needs of children and their families affected by the conflict between the armed forces in Sudan. Specifically, Plan International Sudan aims to minimize disruption to formal and non-formal education systems and to restore formal education services; strengthen the proactive environment for children and their families including age and gender-appropriate services during and after disasters; create opportunities for and build capacity of young people affected by the armed conflict to generate income and to improve their life skills; and to become recognized actor in both in linking related community-based interventions to national coordination and interagency mechanisms where Plan International Sudan will gradually take on leadership functions.
Effective sector management is a shared responsibility held by all sector partners. Sector leads and co-leads are impartial representatives of the sector and are responsible for the day-to-day running of the sector. The sector leads, and co-leads (National Council for Child Welfare (NCCW), UNICEF, and designated NGO) are expected to collaborate to support the implementation of, monitor, and evaluate performance against key sector functions and accountabilities.
UNICEF as CP AoR lead agency and Plan International have signed a Letter of Understanding to co-lead the CP AoR in Sudan for 2 years. Based on the IASC Reference module for Cluster coordination at the country level, these functions are related to strengthening the coordination mechanism for service delivery; information for strategic decision; planning and strategy development; advocacy; monitoring and reporting; contingency planning/preparedness, and accountability to affected populations.
On behalf of Plan International and in support of the government and all humanitarian actors, this post’s purpose is to provide leadership and facilitate the processes that will ensure a well-coordinated, strategic, adequate, coherent, and effective response by participants in the Child Protection Area of Responsibility.
About you
You are a skilled professional in child protection and safeguarding, with experience in CP-AoR representation and engaging with members. You excel in communication, negotiation, and people management, leading teams in disaster-affected communities. Adaptable and organized, you make sound decisions in high-pressure environments. Your expertise covers CPIE, GBViE, Core Humanitarian Standards, and key international frameworks. You have conducted CP assessments and trained diverse audiences. Fluent in Arabic and English, you bring valuable emergency context experience, with additional knowledge in TVET/IGA as an advantage.
