Reporting to Technical Advisor G2G National Manager. To develop Knowledge Management and Communication conceptual framework and ensure its implementation over the life of the project. The Communications manager will also develop multimedia content for the department’s online platforms and liaison support for internal and external stakeholders.  Due to the high levels of HIV infections in the country, USAID has seen an opportunity to partner with DSD to scale up the YOLO programme in KZN and Gauteng provinces for a period of five years.

Minimum Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Designing and implementing knowledge management and communication conceptual framework and communication plan for the G2G and other SBCC programmes ensuring that all critical components of the project are covered;
  • Provide technical support for the improvement of evidence gathering process for demonstrating the direct effects and outcomes of programmatic interventions;
  • Train and mentor staff including implementing NPOs on the use of modern information, communication and technology (ICT) tools and software:
  • Contribute towards research and development of new and innovative mechanisms of managing and reporting social welfare information;
  • Design resources to develop the visual representation of the G2G programme;
  • Contribute towards research and development of new and innovative mechanisms of managing and reporting social welfare information;
  • Update/Provide information for the DSD website about G2G AND OTHER SBCC PROGRAMMES and other SBCC programmes with relevant and appropriate knowledge management and communication materials as at when due;
  • Regularly communicate G2G and other SBCC programmme campaigns /Advocacy activities on social media networks and online communication.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Appropriate degree in communication or equivalent qualification;
  • 5 year’s management experience in social media, online communication and SBCC article writing;
  • Knowledge of the relevant Public Service regulatory legislation;
  • Knowledge of software management;
  • Knowledge of multimedia soft wares;
  • Knowledge of new media;
  • Knowledge of social development sector;
  • Knowledge of GCIS.
