The job will include the following and the successful candidate must have proven experience and skills in these areas:

  • Identifying story angles, interviewing, researching, distilling key messages and writing up content
  • Media liaison – responding to media requests
  • Representing the organisation at public events
  • Website content management: Producing content and updating website
  • Social media management
  • Moderating comments
  • Build, collaborate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
  • Teaching, training, and public education including presentation
  • Contributing to funding reports
  • Editing and proofreading
  • Carrying out any additional responsibilities that may be assigned by the Executive Director

Furthermore, we expect the successful candidate to be a skilled project manager, able to deliver projects and accompanying deliverables on time and with high quality. Candidates should demonstrate a keen interest for, and proven experience in politics, human rights and policy.

Requirements:

  • Relevant Degree
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience related to the above listed areas
  • Excellent English written, presentation and verbal communication skills (media and public speaking skills are critical)
  • Highly computer literate and good knowledge of Canva  & other design programmes
  • Experience in producing video and audio content will be an advantage

Further Requirements:

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to be flexible about work responsibilities, prioritise and thrive under pressure or Excellent organisational skills with experience of managing multiple tasks and prioritizing effectively.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills, well-organised, attention to detail and quality, and a structured and pro-active working style
  • South African
