TITLE: Community Health Coordinator (the position is pending donor approval).

TEAM/PROGRAMME: Operation Program

LOCATION: Aswan

GRADE: 5

CONTRACT LENGTH: 12 months

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting the country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE: The Community Health Coordinator will lead the implementation of community health activities in Aswan aimed at improving the health and well-being of refugees, asylum seekers, and vulnerable migrant communities. This role involves hiring, training, and supervising Community Health Workers (CHWs), building the capacity of local NGO community health activities, and planning and implementing health awareness and screening sessions and events.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Project Implementation

  • Identify, select, and support community members who can provide community health services.
  • Support a health and nutrition needs assessment for the target population in Aswan to ensure services are tailored to their needs.
  • Co-train the community health workers and other stakeholders on health promotion methodologies and topics especially; Nutrition, NCDs, reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health RMNCH
  • Buy vitamins and supplements
    • Support the generation of referral maps and orient CHWs about service mapping and referral pathways, including identifying unaccompanied and separated children (UASC) and referring them to relevant child protection projects.
    • Support local partners in establishing and maintaining community health services and teams.
  • Implement health and nutrition promotion sessions for refugees, migrants, and host communities.
  • Oversee the community screening of children to detect malnutrition and ensure adequate referrals to medical service providers when needed

Reporting and documentation

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all training sessions, CHW activities, and community health interventions.
  • Prepare regular reports on project progress, challenges, and outcomes for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Regular reporting to the Health Officer.
  • Enter monthly data for service utilization in the project database.
  • Record CHWs supervision visit reports and update the database.
  • Draft concise, useful, analytical reports, case studies, and other documents as needed.
  • Participate in planning and developing future programming initiatives.
  • Ensure that partner NGO is implementing the activities as planned promptly with high quality.

  • Bachelor’s degree in medicine/pharmacy or related medical fields.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

  • Minimum of 2-3 years experience in implementing and supervising community health services
  • Experience managing CHWs
  • Experience with refugee/marginalized communities.
  • Previous experience in health promotion and raising awareness with similar projects and initiatives.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Fluency in Arabic (spoken and written) and good knowledge of English.
  • Good report writing skills.
  • Commitment to Save the Children’s values and Child Safeguarding.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and work ethic.

Desirable

  • Master degree in public health/ family medicine or nutrition
