The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Mopti, Mali.
As Consortium Manager & Head of Project you will lead the coordination of the consortium as well as ensuring a high-quality implementation of WHH’s activities as contribution to the project’s outcomes. You will ensure project implementation by providing strategic direction to consortium and WHH staff, overseeing budget management, performance management, MEAL, and partnership management. Furthermore, you will build profound external relations with stakeholders, including government authorities, communities, humanitarian working groups, and project partners. As Consortium Manager you will maintain regular communication with all consortium partners and the program department in WHH’s country office.
Your responsibilities
Project Management:
- Lead and coordinate a consortium with collaborative leadership, leveraging partner strengths.
- Oversee project planning and execution to ensure timely, quality delivery aligned with objectives.
- Organize quarterly meetings and updates to track progress, document decisions, and maintain shared project tools.
- Monitor project budgets with finance and grants teams, reviewing financial reports, spending plans, and revisions.
- Collaborate with local authorities to engage communities, aligning activities with the Triple Nexus concept.
- Work with MEAL colleagues on data analysis to inform programming and advocacy.
- Conduct regular partner monitoring visits with relevant team members.
- Develop capacity-building and career development plans with HR and the Area Manager.
- Contribute to donor proposals for target regions, aligned with WHH’s strategy and existing projects.
Communication and Reporting:
- Maintain regular communication with the Area Manager and Head of Programmes on progress.
- Lead and document Project Steering Committee meetings, sharing updates with all members.
- Ensure open communication among consortium and project teams.
- Update and follow the project’s communication/visibility plan.
- Represent the consortium/WHH in regional networks and coordination platforms.
- Establish an effective partner reporting system for financial and project progress updates.
- Coordinate interim donor reporting with input from partners, stakeholders, and internal departments.
Your profile
- A university or college degree in Environment Science / Management, Agronomy, Economics, Social Science or any other equivalent degree related to rural development interventions
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in management of large projects with a turn-over of at least 750,000 EUR/year, in INGOs focusing on economic development, skills development, agriculture and livelihoods
- At least 2 years of working experience in partnership or consortium management
- Proven skills in on-the-job training and capacity building of staff in efficient project and resource management
- Excellent analytical skills (finance, program trends, MEAL, security) to identify blockages and provide pragmatic solutions to adapt project steering to a rapidly evolving context including temporary access constraints
- Capacities to develop appealing outputs for external use (donor reports, presentations, etc.) and convincing proposals
- Experience in implementing food systems transformation approaches in challenging environments is a strong asset
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and manage complex and diverse relationships with stakeholders
- Proven ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team in a multi-cultural environment and to maintain smooth working relationships inside and outside the organization on regular basis
- Previous working experience in the Sahel is an asset
- Proficiency in Microsoft collaboration tools (Outlook, Teams, Planner) and MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint). PowerBI would be an asset
- A completed HEAT training within the last 24 months is an asset
- Readiness to receive necessary vaccinations for working in WHH’s programme countries
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in French; knowledge of English would be an asset
