1. BACKGROUND
As part of the project funded by Eni S.p.A on improving OSH and access to social health protection for workers in the castor supply chain in Kenya, an assessment was conducted to better understand the drivers and constraints for OSH improvement and access to social health protection. Findings allowed to identify occupational hazards and risks to which workers and farmers are exposed at the farming and aggregation stages of the supply chain, details on their social protection coverage, the factors influencing their vulnerability, and the key challenges and opportunities for OSH improvements and social protection coverage extension along the value chain. To disseminate the key findings from the research a brochure was prepared for publication.
