Consultancy for the design of a brochure on drivers and constraints for OSH improvement and access to social protection in the castor supply chain in 28 views1 applications


1. BACKGROUND

As part of the project funded by Eni S.p.A on improving OSH and access to social health protection for workers in the castor supply chain in Kenya, an assessment was conducted to better understand the drivers and constraints for OSH improvement and access to social health protection. Findings allowed to identify occupational hazards and risks to which workers and farmers are exposed at the farming and aggregation stages of the supply chain, details on their social protection coverage, the factors influencing their vulnerability, and the key challenges and opportunities for OSH improvements and social protection coverage extension along the value chain. To disseminate the key findings from the research a brochure was prepared for publication.
This publication is being prepared as part of the project funded by Eni S.p.A. on Improving Occupational Safety and Health and Access to Social Protection for Workers in the Agri-Business Sectors and implemented under the ILO’s ‘Safety + Health for All’ flagship programme in line with its strategy.

2. OVERALL OBJECTIVE
The overall objective of this consultancy is to design a brochure (eight pages, A4 format) to present the key findings from the assessment of drivers and constraints for OSH improvement and access to social protection in the castor supply chain in Kenya, featuring a series of illustrations that show the supply chain stages, workers/farmers, and occupational risks.

3. KEY TASKS AND OUTPUTS
The key deliverables of the assignment will be the design a brochure (eight pages, A4 format) to present the key findings from the assessment, featuring a series of illustrations/drawings that show the supply chain stages and occupational risks. This should include at least 16 illustrations/drawings to illustrate the following:

  • Stages of the castor supply chain
  • Occupational hazards: chemical, ergonomic, biological, mechanical, physical and psychological risks, as well as fire hazards.

The document will follow the brand guidelines of the Safety + Health for All flagship programme. PDF files will be delivered for web and print, as well as the original illustrations files.
The draft document will be shared with the ILO for comments and approval.

4. DELIVERABLES AND SCHEDULE
The consultancy starts on 01.04.2025 and ends on 25.04.2025.
Deliverable 1: Layout of the brochure (A4 format) to present the key findings from the assessment of drivers and constraints for OSH improvement and access to social protection in the castor supply chain in Kenya. Deadline: 15th April 2025.
Deliverable 2: Final layout integrating ILO feedback. Deadline: 25th April 2025

5. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
The consultant must meet the following criteria:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in similar projects or assignments.
  • Strong knowledge of ILO guidelines for layout design.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

  • A detailed financial proposal, including breakdowns for the proposed layout and illustrations.
