Photo and video coverage of ILO PROSPECTS peer-learning workshop “Pathways to organize collectively for gig and platform workers” in Naivasha, Kenya (4 December 2024)

1. Background

The ILO is organizing a peer-learning workshop on “Pathways to organize collectively for gig and platform workers” which will take place from 3-5 December 2024 in Naivasha, Kenya.
The workshop will roll out peer-learning materials that focus on gig and platform workers’ education and advocacy on pathways to organize and advocate collectively for fair wages, decent working conditions and the effective realization of labour rights. It is organized as part of the Partnership for Improving Prospects for Forcibly Displaced Persons and Host Communities and the Opportunity Fund project on the Promotion, inclusion, and protection of refugees and host communities in the gig economy.

  1. Objective of the assignment

To capture photos and a series of high-quality interviews to produce two engaging videos of 2-3 minutes each that captures statements from participants on how the training material is relevant to the work they are doing. The service provider will only cover the 2nd day of the workshop (4 December 2024).

3. Scope of work

A. Pre-production: Consult with the ILO to understand the event programme, identify key interviewees (speakers, attendees, organizers), and discuss the overall video style and requirements. These inputs will be used by the service provider to finalize a storyline which will be validated by the ILO.
B. Event coverage: Bring, set up and operate necessary professional equipment for photo and video coverage.
C. Post-production: Professional photo and video editing, sound mixing and colour grading to create the following videos with appropriate subtitles and graphics (intro and outro, including project logos and names and organizations of speakers). Include licenced background music as required.
After the initial video drafts, two rounds of feedback with the ILO should be foreseen. The materials photos and videos should follow the ILO brand guidelines for production. To know more visit www.brand.ilo.org

The final photos and videos will be disseminated through various channels including PROSPECTS Opportunity Fund website, ILO social media channels, as well as by the project’s partners and stakeholders. The raw files of all photos and videos captured during the event should also be given to the ILO.
All data and information received from the ILO for the purpose of this assignment are to be treated confidentially and are only to be used in connection with the execution of these Terms of Reference. All outputs are property of the ILO.

4. Assignment deliverables and timeframe

Deliverable | Provisional timeline

Final versions of the videos | 20 January 2025
All deliverables should be delivered before 30 January 2025.

5. Required skills and experience

  • Proven experience in event video production and post-production
  • Access to professional-grade video equipment and editing software
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Portfolio of previous work that demonstrates creativity and quality

6. Travel expenses

The filming location will be in Naivasha. All travel expenses for the crew should be included in the quote. The ILO will not provide transport or daily subsistence allowance for the video production company.

  1. Payment Terms

The ILO will only pay for services that have been performed and for deliverables that are successfully completed to the satisfaction of the ILO. Full payment upon submission of deliverables.
