Frankfurt Zoological Society (FZS) invites you to join us on a consultancy to review and enhance the effectiveness of our Integrated Landscape/Outreach programs around the breathtaking Bale Mountains National Park (BMNP) in Ethiopia.

About FZS and the Project:

FZS has been dedicated to conserving BMNP, a global biodiversity hotspot, since 2004. However, despite our efforts, the park still faces significant threats due to human impact and resource depletion. That’s where you come in. We need your expertise to evaluate our pilot livelihoods projects and provide insights to shape future initiatives.

Your Mission:

As a consultant, you’ll delve into the heart of our pilot projects, assessing their impact on both conservation efforts and local communities’ livelihoods. Your tasks will include reviewing past activities, analyzing data, conducting field visits and engaging with local beneficiaries. By the end, you’ll deliver actionable recommendations to guide our future endeavors.

The consultancy spans 26 days, with a mix of remote and on-site work.

Your Profile:

We’re seeking 1-2 experts with the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field
  • Experience in community livelihood development in Ethiopia and sub-Saharan Africa
  • Proficiency in Integrated Landscape Management
  • Experience in project evaluation and in MEL systems and data required to assess outcomes and sustainability of livelihood initiatives
  • Excellent English language proficiency and communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate insights into practical recommendations
