Project Context and Scope

Data analyst – Supporting quantitative data analysis and interpretation related to child protection from various sources to conclude a Regional Analysis Report that focuses on the vulnerability and experience of children on the move in North Africa and along key corridors that provides actionable insights to inform our programs and policies.

Organizational Department / Unit to which the Consultant is contributing

RO MENA Regional Coordination Unit, Regional Development and Protection Programme (RDPP) Strengthening protection in North Africa through Regional coordination and knowledge

Responsibilities

Tasks to be performed under this contract

  • Deliverable 1 – Submission of Data Collection and Management – Collate all available internal and external data available on the topic and in line with the research questions
  • Deliverable 2 – Data Analysis – Submission of a detailed statistical analysis on internal and external datasets related to children’s protection issues according to a data analysis plan
  • Deliverable 3 – Support the lead consultant on Reporting and Documentation – Submission of a comprehensive first draft report summarizing findings and insights from data analysis as well as recommendations
  • Deliverable 4 – Finalize and share data visualization including graphs and power BI on the topic

  • Number of data sets analyzed
  • Quality of data analysis report
  • Quality of data visualization 0

  • Level of understanding of assignment

Qualifications

Education

  • Master’s Degree in Social Science, Public Administration, Public Policy, Economics, or related field from an accredited academic institution and at least 4 years of relevant professional work experience
  • At least 4 years experience using some or all of the following tools: Microsoft Excel, SPSS, R, Stata, MySQL, SQL server, Microsoft PowerBI and/or HighCharts.

Experience

  • Experience in information and data management including collection, storing, processing, and analyzing large volumes of quantitative and qualitative data to generate intuitive information products.
  • Proven experience with management and operation of databases.
  • Experience in data collection, database merging, data processing (incl. cleaning) data analysis for
  • Knowledge regarding quantitative and qualitative statistical data analysis in areas of social science, internal and/or international mixed migration and human mobility
  • Experience with mixed methods research design
  • Experience in internal and/or international mixed migration data analyses is required;
  • Advanced English writing and communication skills
  • Quantitative research experience in the field internal and international mixed migration, and refugees/IDPs in developed and developing countries.

Advantageous:

  • Prior familiarity with IOM data sets to be analyzed
  • Experience conducting research and data analysis in domains related to Protection and in specific child protection
  • Research, policy and report writing.
  • Database development and management skills an advantage;

Languages

  • The consultant(s) is expected to be fluent in English, Capacity to draft and interact in French and Arabic is an added value.
