An opportunity has arisen for Digital Content Producers to join the El Kul team here at BBC Media Action North Africa on a 12 month fixed term contact.

We are looking to appoint A Digital Content Producer who will be a key resource in running day-to-day digital activity and will be crucial in providing feedback on the effectiveness of strategy when put into practice. The Digital Content Producer will work closely with the rest of the El Kul team to pitch, produce and post content.

El Kul project publishes non-news, development-oriented content on our social media platforms. All content is in Arabic and is targeted at an exclusively Libyan audience inside Libya. All of the subject matter is Libya related.

Role Responsibility

Along with the senior El-Kul editorial team, the Digital Content Producer takes responsibility for posting and producing content, including creation of original video and multimedia assets. The Digital Content Producer will also pitch, report, edit and write original content for El-Kul audiences. With support from the Senior Content Producer, the Digital Content Producer will analyse referral and in-platform metrics and give insight into the behaviour of our digital communities, distribution of content across the web, and emerging trends. This is a crucial role in our editorial teams, responsible for identifying trending editorial topics and trends in social platforms.

Accountabilities

· Create and present digital content, including production of original video and multimedia content.

· Deliver high-quality copy/digital material under pressure and have a proven track record of originating creative and compelling stories to work across all relevant platforms

· Edit pieces of video and sound from freelancers, in line with the needs of the specified output

· Script and edit video on issues including social media friendly videos – in particular for Facebook and Instagram

· Post editorial content to El Kul digital platforms in line with KPIs and keeping audiences at the heart of your work

· Prioritise relevant content creation and platform management against identified goals, knowing which platforms and tasks are more important in consultation with the Senior Producer

· Engage and interact with our communities across social platforms

· Provide feedback on performance and engagement with El Kul featured content on social media platforms

· Ensure that all content or language published to El Kul social media platforms adheres to BBC editorial guidelines

· Produce Facebook Lives, upload content to a range of devices, including desktop, tablet and mobile

· The role may also include writing and/or producing stories, blogs, features and video for the El Kul product, and work on any new digital projects that the project launches

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following:

Knowledge & Skills

· Ability to plan and manage competing deadlines and priorities

· Excellent communication skills

· Sound editorial judgement

· Experience producing content for the web or social media

· A clear, fluent writing style and an ability to produce strong headlines, summaries and promotional texts

· A strong visual sense, experience in picture research and image editing skills using Final Cut Pro or Photoshop

· Video editing skills and fluency in Adobe Premier or Final Cut Pro

· Strong attention to detail and an ability to work within established deadlines

· A self-starter excited by the potential of working in a small, dynamic and growing team

· Sound knowledge of social media best practices and the social media landscape

· Sound understanding of El Kul’s relevant market

· Demonstrated knowledge or interest in digital trends in media, entertainment, and emerging technologies

· Sound understanding of the BBC Media Action brand

· Interest and experience in a variety of topics, such as travel, technology, art, culture, science, business, the environment or transport

· A strong enthusiasm for, and understanding of, Libyan culture and society. Fluency in Arabic

· A deep understanding of the web and how best to promote content to an online audience
