Hello Hello! So you’re interested in joining us? Welcome, we’re happy you’re here.

When you Join Alight, you’ll find…

A team with deep experience in co-designing solutions that create new value around the world. We know we need to always be better, and we believe in the power and abundance of everyday people, everywhere, to change the world with us.

A culture of radical accountability to our customers – as we help build a meaningful life for and with the displaced, we ask them what they want and then deliver on it.

An organization that refuses to settle for anything less than delivering human-worthy services.

If you are looking to be part of a living, breathing, ever-changing organization full of disrupters and doers, then read on!

We are proud to work on borderless teams. We hire great people from a wide variety of backgrounds and specifically encourage members of refugee, immigrant or other displaced communities to join us.

Alight’s Journey

Alight has been on a journey of transformation. Founded in 1979 as American Refugee Committee, in 2019 we became Alight. Along the way, a core and fundamental belief has grown within the hearts of our community: every human being is full, whole, complex, and worthy of being truly seen.

We choose to walk alongside those who by sheer luck and circumstance ended up on a long and arduous journey of displacement– one that upended their lives, livelihoods, plans of the future, dreams and aspirations.

We work to create programs along the entire displacement journey to deliver essential experiences that all human beings deserve: the care of body, mind, and spirit; the experience of being and feeling safe; the peace of house and home; the pursuit of education; the dignity of work and financial security; and the experience of loving human connection.

The Team

The Global Programs Team is dispersed globally and works collaboratively with regional and country enterprise teams worldwide. The team work to support global operations, rollout and engage teams in organization strategy, and ensure program accountability to displaced people, partners, and ourselves. The Alight strategy is human-centered and aims to give customers the power to define quality, co-create programs, and inform and shape culture, decision-making and strategy.

Role

Alight has an enterprise model which means that regional and country leaders are responsible for the impact, financial health, and timely delivery of services. They are Alight leaders ensuring the values of the organization lives inside our work. These Enterprise Leaders will report to the Director of Global Enterprises, with a dotted line to the COO, to ensure the enterprises receive the support they require; that teams are accountable to those they serve, donors, and the organization; and are consistently implementing Alight strategy.

Responsibilities

Deputy to Chief Operating Officer and Program Leadership

Department leader and acting team lead in the absence of the Chief Operating Officer.

Work closely with the Chief Operating Officer to ensure worldwide enterprises are customer-centered, strategic, and accountable.

Work to ensure enterprises are on track to implement global strategy.

A customer-led approach will raise big questions about not just services but also how to think about oneself, Alight, and the humanitarian industry. Make space for these discussions, refine important questions, and share them for others to join the conversation. Flag opportunities for new partnerships and program design.

Actively work to discover and learn about the evolution of industry thinking and activity. Regularly talk to Alight customers, attend government and donor meetings, and talk to colleagues inside and outside Alight to deepen understanding and make more informed decisions.

Provide targeted support to organization program priorities ensuring the information and assets are flowing to the communications and fundraising colleagues; ensure strategies, teams, designs, budgets, and plans are in place, and pitching in to ensure success.

Track and shape critical responses to mass displacement events. Actively participate in strategic programming discussions and make recommendations on paths forward.

Lead Enterprise Directors and Ensure Enterprise Accountability

Advocate for enterprises to the executive and global team; advocate for Alight value and strategy in the enterprises.

Lead quarterly management meetings to review key indicators with country and global management teams.

Respond to performance challenges by scheduling interim planning and monitoring meetings to work collaboratively towards improved progress.

Collaborate with the People team to reintroduce a performance management system for enterprise leaders. Conduct regular performance conversations with enterprise leaders.

Ensure enterprise leaders, senior management teams, and potential future leaders have growth plans aligned to staff advancement goals, program needs and organization strategy. Make sure that enterprise leadership teams are working towards diversity, equity, and inclusion goals.

Customer-Centered Programming

Ensure enterprises are accountable to the organization strategy, working with the global team to advance insight-based decision making and program design, customer co-creation, human centered strategy, and quality.

With Program Strategy Team colleagues, lead the rollout of aligned enterprise strategies. Ensure country strategy and program development is centered on the lived experience of the displaced people that they serve.

Partner with the enterprises and global accountability and impact team to ensure the successful roll-out of Alight customer accountability and feedback tool, Kuja Kuja.

Enterprise Budgeting

Achieving pay equity, program quality, and strategy implementation relies on ensuring Alight and the enterprises evolve approaches to budgeting. Work with finance, fundraising, and impact teams to achieve new financial breakthroughs.

Work with enterprise leads to set annual revenue targets. Enterprises revenue rolls up into the organizational budget. Enterprises are largely able to set their own targets; and they are held accountable to their own revenue goals.

Work with the COO and the Enterprise teams to determine the cost of implementing strategy and make recommendations to absorb operational costs with grant funding. Issue proposal development guidance.

Work with the enterprise, finance, and accountability teams, to ensure enterprises have annual budgets. Ensure that they have both operational budgets and full coverage numbers so that they can work and be supported to cover the gap.

Analyze grant funding portfolio to make recommendations for which proposals should receive cash, fundraising, and partnership development support.

Qualities top candidates will possess:

To be successful in this role, you must have the humility to truly listen to and trust refugee and displaced customers with decision making and design. You are a collaborative leader and will extend trust to your direct reports and their teams. You will exercise informed restraint in order to allow enterprise directors to lead. And, you will have the deep experience to recognize the challenges that require urgency and intervention.

This role requires enterprise leadership experience, deep connection to service provision, and a strong orientation to change-making. The right person will be focused but also know that lasting change requires going wide and working right alongside colleagues, partners, service providers and customers. Great patience and kindness is expected – especially when leading teams to embrace new ways of working. The mandate is ambitious and will only be advanced by someone willing to believe transformation is both possible and necessary.
