Survive Fistula Healthcare Foundation (SFHF) is an Non Governmental Organization (NGO) established to support the creation of a fistula-free generation & a society where no woman or girl is left behind. At SFHF, we work with communities to discuss challenges limiting women’s access to healthcare and explore community and health systems level solutions to address those challenges.

We believe that our women and girls should not die from pregnancy or child birth and they should not develop preventable injuries such as obstetric fistula.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Disability Inclusive Development (DID) Volunteer

Location: Abuja

Job Purpose

  • The role of this position is to ensure, track and report the participation of vulnerable groups especially persons living with disabilities in all aspects of our programming on the CIWHIN Project.
  • The position will be responsible for addressing the drivers of discrimination and exclusion, especially in accessing Maternal and Child Health Services.

Job Summary

  • The DID Volunteer, working closely and under the guidance of the CIWHIN Program Officer, will provide programmatic and administrative assistance for interventions related to Disability Inclusive Programming into SFHF’s thematic activities across our Safe Motherhood Strategy (SMS) and Comprehensive Fistula Care (CFC) programs, in accordance with national and donor standards and guidelines.

Essential Responsibilities
The DID Volunteer will be expected to perform the following responsibilities:

  • Monitoring and tracking beneficiaries: Identify and document project beneficiaries with special needs through formal standardized and informal assessments.
  • Inclusive Programming: Promote the provision of an environment conducive for PLWD to access program activities like training, capacity building and community outreaches.
  • Engagement with JONAPWD: Closely liaise and engage with JONAPWD to ensure effective representation and collaboration with the CIWHIN project.
  • Community Engagement: Mobilize, interact and enlighten the community members in the CIWHIN Project supported areas on Fistula and other Maternal Health related Issues
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Skills and Abilities

  • B.Ed, B Sc / BA, PGCE in Special Education, Special Studies, Health Education or other Social Science related studies.
  • Ability to communicate in sign language (Desired, but not compulsory).
  • Experience working and engaging with rural communities
  • Knowledge of or interest in reproductive health and/or maternal health will be an advantage
  • A proven ability to meet deadlines with strong multi-tasking skills.
  • Knowledge of Hausa language will also be an advantage
  • Availability to Volunteer either full-time, or for at least 15 Working Hours weekly.

Remuneration
SFHF will only provide stipends to cover basic monthly transportation and living expenses of the Volunteer.
