The successful candidate will undertake driving and field assignments, assist with logistics, and ensure proper maintenance of the vehicle assigned together with other facilities and equipment as may be designated to the candidate. In addition, the Driver will offer logistical and administrative support services to the Simien Mountains Landscape Program by handling routine functions.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide driving services to the project staff/partners.
  • Ensure that the vehicle is always clean, in good working condition, and has enough fuel for the next activity (Note: cleaning of the vehicle should not interfere with other assignments).
  • Ensure the assigned vehicle is serviced on schedule and its insurance and any licenses or taxes are valid.
  • Maintain the vehicle log sheets and ensure they are submitted to Accounting in time.
  • Comply with all applicable AWF and project policies and regulations.
  • Comply with EWCA regulations when working in a National Park.
  • Assist staff by doing messenger work and distributing letters.
  • Ensure regular checks of the vehicles status and condition and report any problems to the supervisor/AWF Technical Advisor.
  • Be prepared to carry out other non-driving duties as assigned by the supervisor/AWF Technical Advisor.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of Preparatory School Certification.
  • Having valid public one (Grade 3) driving license with a minimum of five years of driving.
  • Certificate of Good Conduct.
  • Demonstrated skills on use of 4WD vehicles.
  • Has driven in the park on rough terrain.
  • Mechanics experience is an added advantage.
  • Internet/email communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Enthusiastic and committed to AWF’s mission.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Amharic.
  • Ability to communicate in spoken English.
