Position: Driver – Humanitarian Emergency Affairs (HEA)

Location: Kazungula (1) and Gwembe (1)

Purpose of Position

To provide secure and timely driving services to Project staff and/or visitors and ensure proper maintenance and management of fleet for Humanitarian Emergency Affairs programmes.

Vehicle maintenance and management

  • Ensure that all trips are authorized, start and finish mileage is recorded, fuel allocated before and after undertaking any trip as well as ensure electronic logbook is utilized.
  • Produce summary of vehicle usage reports and ensure WV policy and standards are adhered to.
  • Report all accidents and defects on motor vehicles in accordance with WVZ policy.
  • Ensure that comprehensive Insurance for all motor vehicle is done and insurance claims are effected immediately after the accident has occurred in liaison with Transport and Logistics Officer.
  • Schedule and keep track of general maintenance of vehicles for service in liaison with Transport and Logistics Officer.
  • Ensure sound running of the vehicles assigned and arrange minor repairs where necessary – Check oil and tyres properly and keep vehicles in clean condition, both inside and outside.

Logistical Support

  • Provide transportation for field staff
  • Facilitate transportation for partners, stakeholders and/or visitors
  • Plan, schedule travel calendars and facilitate other pick -ups as assigned
  • Assist with collection of quotations

Other

  • Participate in spiritual nurture programmes.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

  • Chartered institute of Transport and Logistics Certificate, Automotive/mechanics Technician Certificate and/or its equivalent
  • Atleast 2 years fleet management experience added advantage
  • Able to communicate fluently in English both written and spoken
  • Good Communication and interpersonal skills essential
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment with NGO experience and grant experience is added advantage
  • Must be computer literate and able to work in applications
  • Ability to prioritize work and need for urgency

Other Competencies/Attributes:

  • Understanding of Humanitarian Emergency Affairs issues is added advantage
  • High professional ethics and proficiency
  • Must be a committed Christian, able to exhibit and stand above denominational diversities.
  • Attend and participate/ in daily devotions and weekly Chapel services.

Working Environment / Conditions:

  • Work environment: Office/field -based
  • On call: 24 hrs
