About the role

Acted is looking for a professional Driver to support the Kenya mission. The Driver will ensure safe, reliable and timely transport of staff, equipment and supplies. You will also be responsible for maintaining assigned vehicles in good working condition and supporting logistics activities as needed.

This role is key to enabling teams to carry out their work efficiently including in field locations and during emergency responses.

Key responsibilities

Driving and transport duties

  • Safely transport staff to meetings, field missions, workshops, and airports
  • Collect and deliver mail, packages, and equipment, keeping accurate records
  • Follow traffic rules and ACTED driving policies at all times
  • Plan trips, fuel vehicles, check documents, and prepare vehicles for travel
  • Perform regular vehicle inspections and report any issues or damages
  • Conduct minor repairs and coordinate maintenance services
  • Keep vehicles clean, safe, and equipped with all necessary documents and tools
  • Report route changes due to security, weather, or road conditions

Logistics and administrative support

  • Support vehicle and asset insurance renewals
  • Assist with procurement of small items and sourcing suppliers
  • Maintain driver schedules, daily movement plans, and leave records
  • Communicate transport plans to staff and coordinate movements
  • Assist office staff with filing, scanning, and delivery tasks as required

Protection and compliance

  • Promote and adhere to the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) policy
  • Maintain open communication with colleagues and supervisors.

Required qualifications and experience

  • Valid driving license with proven experience in professional driving (NGO or humanitarian experience is an added advantage). Good knowledge of local routes, road conditions and traffic regulations is essential.
  • Certificate of Good Conduct
  • Minimum 5-9 years of professional driving.
  • Strong understanding of Kenyan road network and Defensive driving technique
  • Basic understanding of humanitarian operations and the importance of safety, punctuality, and reliability in supporting field activities.
  • Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge, including routine checks (oil, tyres, fuel, etc.) and the ability to identify and report mechanical issues promptly.
  • Diligent, dedicated, and able to see complex procedures through to completion.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Fluent in English
