The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the United Nations systems designated entity for addressing environmental issues at the global and regional level. Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action. UN Environment needs the services of 2 Drupal Web developers.
The Drupal web developers will do the following:
- Implement the designs and information architecture based on provided specifications;
- Configure relevant and required Drupal modules to implement the designs as per the specs;
- Create accompanying themes, templates, and CSS.
- Migrate the content from existing site to the new one.
Web developers should have advanced knowledge and experience in:
- Demonstrated experience in SQL, HTML 5, CSS, XML, PHP, JavaScript, multiple scripting language, Drupal 7/8 and web services (e.g. SOAP/XML, JSON); information architecture and taxonomy; developing web and mobile applications and database managementc are essential;
- Web standards; search engine optimization; integration with social media; responsive web design; and graphic design are an asset.
- Bachelors of Science degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or similar related field required.
- At least 3 years experience in designing and developing sites using Drupal required.
- Fluency in English is required

Located in Nairobi, Kenya, the East Africa Hub manages a growing portfolio of engagements, including associated strategic and operational risks. The East Africa sub-region currently consists of an established Operation Centre in South Sudan and a portfolio of engagements managed by the Kenya based East Africa Hub office. This includes primarily transactional projects in partnership with the Nairobi based UN Agencies, UN-Habitat and UNEP, and multiple ‘operational’ projects in Somalia, Tanzania, Burundi, Uganda, Kenya and several island states.
