TITLE: Education Coordinator

TEAM/PROGRAMME: Cairo Area/Operation

LOCATION: Greater Cairo area, Egypt

GRADE: 5

CONTRACT LENGTH:

Till the end of December 2024 with possibility of extension based on the availability of funds

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE:

The Education Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the educational classes and activities with Community Learning Centres (CLC) This educational activity will aim to promote and facilitate access to quality and safe educational opportunities for the children in the impact area. He/She will be responsible for leading a team of facilitators under the supervision of the education officer to implement educational interventions based on the beneficiaries’ educational needs. Beside this, he/she will be conducting regular observation and monitoring visits to the educational classes and activities taking place in the targeted CLCs in Giza.

Projects Scope:

This project is funded by multiple donors to assist children in CLCs among asylum seekers, migrants, and members from the host community aged 6-35 in Giza to receive better protection services aiming to empower them for successful transition to self-reliance, access income generation activities and integrate within the local communities.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to: Education Officer

Staff reporting to this post: 12 Education Facilitators

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

Project Implementation

  • Support in planning, implementing reporting, and documenting the educational activities of the project i.e CUCs, safe school approach and Language Classes.
  • Coordinate assessment activities to assess children needs and abilities to support in designing a tailored content that meet the educational needs.
  • Follow up on the day to day operation to ensure the delivery of quality educational classes and activities including financial and non-financial support i.e distributing transportation allowances and school meals.
  • Coordinate activities with CLCs, public schools and relevant stakeholders to provide safe, inclusive, and enabling learning environments.
  • Conduct regular observation and monitoring visits to the educational activities using relevant assessment tools.
  • Assist in providing coaching and technical support to build the capacities of Education Facilitators and CLC’s staff to provide quality teaching.
  • Maintain the reduction component’s comprehensive database of the related educational activities.
  • Ensure participation of all children in their education and support the establishment of child safeguarding and accountability mechanisms inside the learning centers.
  • Coordinate activities with children and parents to support children with disabilities having access to education.

Reporting and documentation

  • Draft monthly and regular field reports to the education officer.
  • Document the educational activities, operational work processes and success stories.
  • Regularly update the project officer with progress, obstacles, and developments.

General:

  • Demonstrate good example in relation to Save the Children policies and practice with respect to the safeguarding, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities, and other relevant policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor Degree in Education, Social Sciences, or relevant development/management Studies
  • Minimum of 3 years of successful experience in project implementation in the development/humanitarian field with a reputable NGO in Egypt.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Highly familiar with the refugees and migrant’s context in Egypt, is a must.
  • Previous experience in the education field is required.
  • Proven knowledge and skills in education activities’ planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Proven successful experience in team management.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication, writing, and organizational skills.
  • Good training and facilitation skills.
  • Strong networking, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluency in Arabic (spoken and written).
  • Good command of the English language (spoken and written) · Very good at using the internet, MS Office, Email, and spreadsheets.
  • Commitment to Save the Children values, and Child Safeguarding policy.

Preferably

  • Experience in working with UASC, youth, and adolescents.
  • Experience in implementing similar educational interventions to the targeted group.
  • Experience with using technology in education.
