MRG is looking to recruit an Egypt Project Officer, full-time or 4 days/ week.
The post is based in either Cairo or a location in the MENA region with easy access to Cairo. The post will require regular travel to and/or around Egypt. Any location outside Egypt must have low risks of interference or interruptions, good internet access and good travel connections. The post holder must be able to travel to Egypt on work related visits without hindrance.
Salary: Grade D (in London this grade would pay £27,378- 31,635 – this will be adjusted for the cost of living in the location the successful candidate is to be based in)
Duration: March 2017 until November 2018
The post holder will work with the Egypt and MENA Coordinator post holder to implement a programme of capacity building, training, and advocacy with minority communities and minority activists in Egypt. The programme will include both religious minority communities and ethnic minorities. Candidates should have a good knowledge of minority rights and a detailed knowledge of the social, political, legal and economic context and events in Egypt – particularly in so far as these are relevant to minorities. Candidates should have at least 1 years experience of at least two of working with partners in the South, running training, national advocacy campaigns, international advocacy, and partner capacity building. Candidates will need excellent written and spoken Arabic and English. Candidates will also need experience of programme implementation, budgets, of programme design and work in complex and challenging security settings. A key task for this post will be to make connections and build relationships with minority activists in Egypt and be a critical friend to them in a difficult context. The post holder will have the support of a part time assistant based in London.
Candidates should have very good prioritisation and workload management skills as this post will involve considerable juggling of tasks with hard deadlines.
