THE OPPORTUNITY

Plan International Ghana is looking to recruit the services of a seasoned professional to join our ranks as Emergency Response Specialist in the Sissala West District of the Upper West Region of Ghana.

The Emergency Response Specialist (ERS) for Plan International Ghana will provide specialist support to our response and contribute to addressing refugees and asylum seekers who have crossed into Ghana as a result of non-state armed groups activities in the Sahel, particularly along Ghana boarders with Burkina-Faso as well as any other emergency that may occur during this period of engagement.

Specifically, you will lead the Response Team and the implementation of the response plan with specific reference to supporting response at Zini refugee centre in the Upper West region in line with internationally recognized standards and principles. You will serve as the interface between the Emergency Response Team and the Head of Programs and Influencing and for the entire Country Leadership Team. In general, the you would also provide specialist support to any emergency that may occur within the period of this engagement throughout the country as and when required.

THE INDIVIDUAL

Knowledge and skills:

  • Advanced university degree or equivalent in management, social sciences or related field,
  • At least 5 years’ experience in managing responses in medium humanitarian settings
  • Demonstrated knowledge of child protection and disaster risk reduction, including significant field experience in managing emergency programmes during humanitarian crisis.
  • Conversant with international humanitarian architecture, particularly related to coordination and funding. Demonstrated prior experience engaging with the humanitarian coordination system and local and national levels.
  • Required knowledge of general finance, administration, human resources management, information management, and telecommunication skills, and proficiency in information technology/ computer skills.
  • Be experienced in project design, planning, proposal writing and project reporting.
  • Excellent teamwork skills and the ability build good relations both internally and externally and implement solutions independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office particularly word, excel and PowerPoint.
  • Be familiar with and abide by Plan’s humanitarian policies, the NGO/Red Cross Code of Conduct and other regulatory Codes
