The Haven Night Shelter seeks to appoint a Nurse to be based in Haven Old Age Home at Woodstock, Cape Town.
Reports to: Registered Nurse.
Remuneration: R12 500.00
Employment type: Permanent
Required:
- Matric/ Enrolled Nurse and SANC registered.
- Compliance with SANC code for Enrolled Nurses.
- 2 Years’ experience as an Enrolled Nurse and at least 1 year experience in Geriatric Nursing.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that prescribed medication is administered correctly and timorously and within the guidelines of the Nursing Scope of Practice
- Ensure that Home Carers perform their duties in accordance with policies and duties and their individual contracts of employment.
- Ensure all recordkeeping and documentation is maintained.
- Handling of residence complaints in the correct manner.
- Promote personal hygiene of all residents who is dependent on daily care.
- Manage and coordinate residents who attends Doctor‘s appointment.
- Effective communication with patient/resident about their care.
- Assess and ensure emergency services assistance if necessary.
- Ensures that the catering department is aware of all special dietary requirements and supervises the serving of all meals on the shifts to ensure compliance with these.
- Mentoring of learners on internships and learnerships.
- Attributes and skills:
- Well-spoken and neat presentation.
- Must be able to communicate well with elderly.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to work under pressure and as a team.
