We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Facility Manager

Location: Damaturu Town, Yobe
Employment Type: Full-time

Position Summary

  • The Facilities Manager oversees the day-to-day operations, maintenance, security, and administration of the CCDRN Damaturu office facilities.
  • This position requires technical knowledge of building systems, project management skills, vendor/contractor management experience, and the ability to implement cost-effective facility solutions in a challenging environment.

Key Responsibilities
Facility Maintenance and Operations:

  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, generators, etc.)
  • Oversee repairs and troubleshoot facility issues promptly
  • Manage inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment
  • Conduct regular facility inspections and document findings
  • Coordinate with local contractors for specialized repairs and services
  • Ensure consistent supply of utilities (power, water) through backup systems management
  • Oversee janitorial services and grounds maintenance

Security Management:

  • Implement and maintain facility security protocols
  • Oversee security personnel and systems
  • Conduct regular security assessments and recommend improvements
  • Maintain access control systems and protocols
  • Develop and update emergency response procedures

Administrative and Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage annual facilities budget
  • Process vendor payments and maintain financial records
  • Negotiate and manage service contracts
  • Track and report on facilities expenditures
  • Implement cost-saving measures while maintaining quality standards
  • Maintain organized documentation of all facility-related matters

Project Management:

  • Plan and oversee office renovations and improvements
  • Coordinate office relocations or expansions when required
  • Manage space planning and allocation
  • Supervise construction and renovation projects
  • Ensure compliance with building codes and regulations

Asset Management

  • Maintain inventory of all physical assets
  • Implement equipment replacement schedules
  • Oversee equipment disposal according to organizational policies
  • Coordinate the procurement of new equipment and furniture
  • Ensure proper asset tagging and tracking

Health, Safety, and Environmental Management:

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and drills
  • Implement environmental sustainability initiatives
  • Manage waste disposal and recycling programs
  • Respond to and document workplace accidents or incidents.

Qualifications and Skills
Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Facility Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in facilities management
  • Knowledge of building systems, construction, and maintenance practices
  • Experience with budget management and cost control
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and facility management software
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of local building codes and regulations in Nigeria
  • Experience working with international organizations or NGOs
  • Certification in Facility Management (CFM, FMP, or equivalent)
  • Experience managing facilities in challenging environments
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards
  • Understanding of sustainable facility practices
  • Familiarity with backup power systems and water management.

Working Conditions

  • Based in CCDRN’s Damaturu office with regular working hours
  • Some flexibility is required for emergency situations and occasional after-hours work
  • May involve physical activities, including walking, standing, lifting, and inspection of equipment
  • Possible exposure to various weather conditions during outdoor inspections
  • May require occasional travel to other CCDRN locations in the region.
