Essential Qualifications and Qualities

  • Grade 2 Nursing Degree
  • Registered with the SA Health Professions Council
  • Clinic nurse practitioner with prescribing abilities
  • Previous experience in family planning
  • Previous experience of clinician training
  • Non-judgmental and supportive of youth focussed sexual and reproductive health services
  • Committed to the benefits of effective and safe family planning.
  • Valid driving licence.

Desirable Qualifications and Qualities

  • Attendance at previous family planning training courses
  • Good interpersonal skills, suitable for building relationships and providing training to clinicians and others
  • Personable and kind demeanour
  • Flexibility and ability to work in challenging and limited resource settings
  • Complete understanding of confidentiality
  • Passion for combatting sexual and gender based violence, HIV stigma and promotion of sexual and reproductive health and rights
  • Competent to insert intrauterine devices
  • Competent to inset and remove contraceptive implants
  • Fluency in TshiVenda and/or XiTsonga would be an advantage

Key Performance Area

Training of trainers on the provision of unbiased, objective and up to date advice on family planning

Salary    Circa ZAR 30,000 per month (depending on experience)

TVEP (Thohoyandou Victim Empowerment Programme) is located in the Limpopo province of South Africa. We focus on providing prevention, empowerment and support services in five thematic areas: HIV/AIDS, child abuse, domestic violence, sexual assault, and LGBTI/vulnerable minorities. Since 2001, we have assisted 7,800 rape victims, 14,100 domestic violence victims, and directly reached over 59,000 people with our educational workshops, dialogues,and campaigns.

We offer an integrated range of prevention, empowerment and support services to combat sexual assault, domestic violence, child abuse and HIV.
