This role will be responsible for coordinating the budget and finances for programs and projects within the DRC through activities such as accounting, expenditures, bookkeeping, and payroll. A day in the life of a Field Accountant, Democratic Republic of the Congo:

At Samaritans Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do! We start each day with a time of devotions and spend time praying for each other, our staff and volunteers who serve around the globe.

In the role of Field Accountant, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him.
  • Maintain, revise, and reconcile accurate records for all financial transactions in an organized and professional manner and ensure all financial activity is done in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Perform daily functions including recording all cash, check and bank transfer transactions, maintain cash and bank ledgers, monitor cash advances and field expense reports, reconcile cash on hand and monthly bank reconciliation.
  • Maintain close and cooperative working relationships with fellow financial staff and the Country Director.
  • Ensure financial/accounting activity is carried out in accordance Samaritan’s Purses field accounting policies and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Identify areas for financial and administrative improvement and work to implement feasible improvements.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in related field with a minimum of 1 year bookkeeping or accounting experience.
  • Experience working with grants, proposals and financial matters stemming from agreements and contracts with AID organizations, NGOs and governments.
  • Strong relational skills and financial management experience preferred.
  • High level of patience and flexibility.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required); if not already completed, opportunity to meet and complete requirement is available upon hire.

Language Requirement: Fluency in English (required); Fluency in French (preferred)

Accompaniment: Unaccompanied

Travel Expectations: Required travel documents and vaccinations for entry into foreign countries will be necessary
