CEFA (European Committee for Training and Agriculture) is a Non-Government Organisation whose headquarter is in Bologna, Italy.CEFA works in North/East Africa and Latin America with international donors, mainly in the following activities: 1) Rural economy with production, transformation and commercialization of agricultural products; 2) Crafting products; 3) Basic infrastructures to guarantee water access, requalification and environment protection of the territory and the use of renewable energies; 4) Technical and Management training.

In Ethiopia CEFA is registered since April 2018.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Name of the project: J4A – Job for All

SUPPORT FOR AGRO-ENTREPRENEURS WOMEN FOR THE WELLBEING OF THE COMMUNITY

Through J4A project, CEFA aims to address the lack of income opportunities, aiming at the creation of decent employment and social inclusion for women and young people in the rural areas of Ethiopia. The project will work with women cooperative groups, at different levels of formalization to support them in their structuring process, to train their members at a technical and entrepreneurial level, in order to increase employment and income opportunities for the population groups most at risk of exclusion.

Specific Objective:

To create opportunities of decent work and access to income for women in rural areas working with pre-existing groups at different levels of formalization in order to increase employment and income opportunities for the population groups most at risk of exclusion.

ABOUT THE ROLE

 CEFA is looking for 2 motivated field agents to support 6 women groups in the development of new income and productive activities in the field of agro-food production and processing. The field agents will work in the Wolliso Office, under the supervision of the Project agronomist coordinator.

Role and Responsibility:

  • All the following tasks will be carried out in collaboration and under the supervision and responsibility of the project coordinator and the agronomist supervisor.
  • Coordination and close collaboration with the project coordinator and the agronomist supervisor;
  • Participation in periodic meetings with the project team;
  • Assistance and technical support to women’s cooperatives or groups;
  • Production, monitoring and logistics of reinforcement plan for each women’s group, in collaboration with the supervisor;
  • Supporting the cooperative groups with a daily proximity support, with constant monitoring of the progress of the AGRs and the learning of the concepts transmitted during the training sessions, with ready problem solving interventions and group motivation.
  • Awareness creation for communities of women in rural entrepreneurship and support to women emancipation;
  • Monitoring and logistics of trainings for beneficiaries;
  • Monitoring and logistics of the workshops and seminars organized within the project, for the areas of competence;
  • Collection of documentation and information (report, attendance list, photo, material, etc.);
  • Writing activity reports;
  • Manage relations with local stakeholders, in particular with the relevant authorities with the creation of AGRs and micro-credit institutions;
  • Any other activity necessary for carrying out the project activities as indicated by the local supervisor and the project coordinator.

Types of beneficiaries

Agro entrepreneur’s women, families and communities will benefit from an improved agricultural production and family economy.

Number of beneficiaries

90 members of 6 women groups/cooperatives and 600 members of the communities

Job Requirements

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

  • Diploma in economics, agriculture, project management, business management or relevant sectors and / or at least 3 years of experience in field activities, preferably in development projects in the Agro-food / AGR sectors

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

  • Fluency Oromiffa is mandatory; Good Communication in Amharic and other local language is preferable.
  • Proven team work experience
  • Good knowledge of oral and written English
  • Excellent knowledge of the geographical context of reference
  • Good ability to use the Office package and the Internet
  • Preferably prior work experience with CEFA or one of the project partners.
