Position Overview

Based in Kismayo, the Field Coordinator provides overall leadership and strategic direction for SIF operations across the federal government areas of Jubaland, in close coordination with the Head of Mission. The role oversees program development and implementation, staff management, compliance with SIF policies and procedures, and representation of SIF before local authorities, donors, and key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead strategy and operational planning for the Jubaland region
  • Oversee program design, implementation, budgets, and grant management
  • Represent and advocate for SIF with authorities, UN agencies, donors, and INGOs
  • Manage and build the capacity of national staff
  • Ensure logistics, supply chain, and procurement systems run effectively
  • Lead safety and security management for staff and visitors, including security planning and reporting
  • Oversee administrative and financial compliance in coordination with the Administrative Coordinator

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of humanitarian experience, including prior experience as a Country Director, Deputy Country Director, or Chief of Party with an INGO in a similar context
  • Bachelor’s degree in international development, social studies, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Proven track record in fundraising, donor compliance, and grant/contract management
  • Extensive project management experience (log-frame analysis, project cycle management)
  • Strong leadership and team management experience with national and expatriate staff
  • Excellent written and spoken English; French and/or Arabic highly desirable
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel)

Child Safeguarding

Safeguarding: This position involves direct and regular contact with children and is subject to criminal record checks and professional reference checks. The successful candidate will be required to comply with SIF’s Child Safeguarding Policy and the Protection from Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (PSEAH) Policy.

Following an exploratory mission conducted in September/October 2016, SIF is opening a mission in Nigeria in order to cover the FoodSec, WaSh & Protection needs of the most affected people in and around Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.
