About the Job

Job Purpose

Provide overall leadership, oversight, and management for all aspects of financial management in the National Office. This position is seen as a strategic partner; member of the Senior Management/Leadership Team of the NO, with a focus on ensuring accountability, good stewardship, oversight of planning and budgeting, providing accurate financial data, analysis, and advisory; strategically managing from end to end complex, multi-donor funding sourced portfolio at the highest standard of quality and financial performance; conducting NO strategic forecasting and informing ongoing strategic planning; developing innovative solutions for WVE office ‘Fit for the Future’ including the use and deployment of new digital solutions, capabilities, systems and processes in Financial management to enable maximum efficiency and effectiveness; as well as being responsible for implementing a financial strategy that best serves to enable and contribute towards successfully achieving the NO Strategic and impact objectives for children. Responsible for management and capacity strengthening of finance staff, the development and implementation of good internal controls, risk management through comprehensive and contextually informed high quality risk management systematic practice, utilization and safeguarding of assets according to WV approved policies and procedures.

Key Activities

  • Lead strategic financial planning and management to ensure alignment with NO objectives and Partnership standards. Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation, integrating multi-donor funding streams into a unified financial strategy
  • Drive innovative solutions for cost optimization and digital transformation in financial processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure robust internal controls, compliance with regulatory requirements, and effective risk management across all financial operations.

  • Build capacity within the finance team and across departments to strengthen financial literacy and accountability.

About You

Required Education, training, license, registration, and/or Certification

  • MBA in Finance, MSC in Finance/Accounting/Auditing preferred
  • ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent preferred
  • Knowledge of government grant regulations and financial reporting requirements preferred
  • Knowledge of local accounting system preferred
  • Certified Public Accountant or Equivalent
  • Experience of treasury activities, establishment and monitoring of budgets and an understanding of data processing concepts and systems is preferred.
  • Experience with humanitarian aid in-country is a plus.
  • Experience working in a challenging environment (either in a fragile context or a relief environment is preferred).
  • Strong experience in big grant portfolio management
  • Balanced combination of at least fifteen years finance leadership experience in INGOs and for -profit business; international experience is a plus.
  • Able to hire, train, equip, deploy, lead, and motivate staff to achieve core results
  • Able to leverage key opportunities to mitigate business risks
  • Able to work with minimum supervision
  • Supervisory and technical expertise in business systems development, internal controls, policies, and procedures
  • Excellent working knowledge of GAAP and government/donor regulations and requirements
  • Innovative solution provider
  • Able to articulate and communicate ideas well verbally and in writing
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Able to work in a cross-cultural environment with a multi-national staff
