About the Job

The Opportunity

The position holder provides comprehensive technical support for the financial management of donor-funded grants. S/he ensures compliance with internal policies and donor regulations while responsible for all payments, record keeping, reporting and compliance issues of the Sub office funds.

The Finance Officer is responsible for executing day-to-day financial operations for the sub-office, with a specialized focus on ECHO grant funded activities. This role ensures financial compliance, accurate record-keeping, timely reporting, and effective utilization of funds, supporting the overall mission of the organization. Key responsibilities include ensuring donor compliance, taking timely actions, accurate budget coding and expenditure posting, guiding & support NON-FINANCE staffs in any finance related issues.

Safeguarding Children and Program Participants (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)

  • Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed per the appropriate procedures.
  • Ensures that all staff in the unit/function/department are properly inducted on and understand their role in upholding Plan International’s safeguarding and GEI policies;
  • Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day-to-day work.
  • Ensures that Plan Ethiopia contributes to Plan International’s global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI, including making sure that relevant reporting and data are submitted.
About You

The Individual

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance, Accounting/Business management
  • A minimum of 3 years of practical experience in similar organization/INGO.
  • Strong knowledge of financial systems (SAP), policies, and procedures, and advanced Excel skills
  • Knowledge and experience of donor grants of diverse institutional donors (ECHO.)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient in financial reporting.
  • Fluency in the English language is essential.

Set up in 1937, the organisation provided food, shelter and clothing to children whose lives had been destroyed by the war.
