About the role

We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Finance Officer to support the effective financial management of the Uganda Country Office. The successful candidate will be motivated, have a high degree of integrity, be committed to Disability and Gender Inclusion, having worked in these areas previously and will have experience providing support within an INGO focused on Eye Health, Public Health or Neglected Tropical Diseases and across multiple programmes.

Key duties will include:

  • Maintaining accurate financial records
  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting and reporting
  • Overseeing financial management for partner organisations
  • Supporting procurement processes
  • Ensuring compliance with requirements
  • Assisting the Finance and Support Services Manager with overall financial control
  • Provide financial oversight for the Inclusive Education projects, eye health, and RISEE
  • Asset management and bank reconciliation
  • Working closely with implementing partners
  • Preparing timely financial reports
  • Providing hands-on support and guidance to ensure compliance with agreed requirements.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

Essential

  • A degree in accounting, finance, business administration or equivalent qualifications.
  • Working experience in Accounting and Procurement within an NGO or INGO
  • Experience working within an organisation with a strong focus on disability inclusion and gender inclusion
  • Experience in project accounting and partner handling for multiple programmes with a focused on Public Health, Eye Health or Neglected Tropical Diseases
  • Experience in donor management
  • Experience producing financial reports for multiple projects
  • Experience and knowledge of accounting data processing
  • Knowledge of Uganda country TAX and VAT rules and regulations.
  • Experience of salary recoveries, repayments, managing assets register, managing payments
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels (spoken and written English)
  • Passionate about finance with a high degree of integrity
  • Fluent spoken and written English

Desirable

  • Having a professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA will be an added
  • Experience of using SUN or UniFi finance system will be an advantage
