The Finance Officer role is responsible for ensuring compliance with quality financial practices, implementing control and adequate checks to ensure donor funds are utilized in line with CBM Global and donor agreements. The Finance Officer contributes to the overall goal of the organization and working under the Leadership and Guidance of the Nigeria Country Finance Manager.

Salary range: The salary offered will be competitive, dependent on skills and experience. We offer a local contract.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Real-time input of financial transactions into the accounting system to ensure completeness of financial reports extracted from the accounting system.
2. Participate in preparing and managing the financial risk of the Country Team.
3. Input all financial transactions in real-time into the accounting system to ensure accurate and complete financial reporting.
4. Prepare payroll for the Country Team, ensuring compliance with tax, pension, and statutory contributions per CBM Global and national regulations.
5. Support the preparation and management of financial risks affecting the Country Team.
6. Ensure the integrity and reliability of financial records, systems, and reports.
7. Enforce internal control procedures and donor regulations for all financial transactions, backed by proper documentation.
8. Handle bank payments with complete and approved supporting documents, ensuring timely and accurate disbursements.

9. Safeguard financial instruments (cheque books, receipts, vouchers) and manage petty cash and office cash flow effectively.
10. Track actual vs. budget performance, monitor balances and asset purchases, and provide financial insights to budget holders.
11. Prepare for annual audits and submit timely, complete financial reports in line with CBM Global, donor, and regulatory requirements.
12. Maintain financial and contractual documentation, support procurement processes, and ensure compliance with administrative procedures. Administration
13. Control and maintain CBM Global Country Team asset register and inventory, in line with CBM Global or donor requirements, as applicable.

Additional Responsibilities :

In addition to the responsibilities outlined above, the incumbent will perform ad hoc activities which are either by their nature related to his normal duties or evolve from operational requirements as may be assigned by the Nigeria Country Finance Manager.

Also required to:

• Comply with all safety and health procedures and requirements at CBM Global and, always ensure your own safety and health and that of other persons who may be affected by your acts or omissions at CBM Global.

• Stay current with all regulations, practices, tax laws, reporting requirements and industry trends, and advice the line manager of the same. Audit and others

• Carry out role-specific responsibility to safeguard children and adults at risk (as guided by CBM Global’s respective policies) in programmes and enforce this with any colleagues and partners.

• Ensure that all activities are conducted within the scope of work or as an employee with CBM Global comply with the IT and data protection principles.

• The job incumbent must not use or exploit any Confidential Information in any way except for the Purpose.

• The job incumbent must not disclose or make available the Confidential Information in whole or in part to any third party, except as expressly permitted by this agreement.

Key outcomes expected from this role:
1. Retrieve and submit financial reports to the Nigeria Country Finance Manager timely, both quarterly and year-end financial reports from partners, and Country Team reports and year-end audited accounts.
2. Transactions are posted daily, and month end balances are reconciled.
3. Report of financial standards and guidelines compliance with by partners are submitted timely, any audit or critical issues are reported expeditiously.
4. Administrative supports are rendered adequately and in relevant time as maybe required.

• Familiar with accounting packages – knowledge in Microsoft Dynamics (accounting package) advantageous but not essential*.

CBM (previously Christian Blind Mission) is an international Christian development organisation, committed to improving the quality of life of people with disabilities in the poorest communities of the world. It is considered one of the world's oldest and largest organisations working in this field.[citation needed] CBM was founded in 1908 by the German pastor Ernst Jakob Christoffel, who built homes for blind children, orphans, physically disabled, and deaf persons in Turkey and Iran. Initially CBM's efforts were focused on preventing and curing blindness but now cover other causes of disability.

CBM targets the people affected by disability by supporting local partner organisations to run programmes in the fields of healthcare, rehabilitation (community-based rehabilitation - CBR), education and livelihood opportunities. CBM also advocates for disability inclusion following UN guidelines in international policy-making bodies, and campaigns and raises funds through its member associations. CBM has an emergency response team to respond to conflicts and natural disasters.

CBM reached more than 31 million people in 2012. It supports more than 700 partner-projects in 70 countries and works with various partner organisations, including disabled people's organisations, mission agencies, local churches, self-help groups and relief agencies.
