The Thembalitsha Foundation is the vision of husband and wife, Frank and Kate Christie, who established the Foundation as a registered NPO in 1997. The first project successfully launched was Graceland Preschool, a project serving the children of needy farmers in Stellenbosch. From there the organisation was able to develop Themba Training and School of Hope, two projects located in underserved areas of Cape Town, the former of which provides micro-business and sewing skills to interested learners in the community and the latter which provides a second chance at education for at-risk youth.
The Thembalitsha Foundation seeks to appoint a Fundraiser, based in Somerset West, Western Cape.
Reporting to: Marketing Manager
Hours: 08h00 to 14h00
Salary: R144 000.00 cost to company per year
Responsibilities:
- Funding Proposal development of Research new local and international funding opportunities (Government grants, Corporates, Foundations, Trust) for all TF projects
- Liaise with Project Managers and collate all relevant information
- Complete Application forms with relevant supporting documents
- Liaise with Finance Department for project and organisational budgets
- Keep record of all research, contact person and copies of submission
- Network with potential Funders
- Keep a funder report schedule and submit reports as per funder criteria
- Regularly update DonorPro database and supply reports as management tool
- Attend relevant workshops in line with Fundraising
- Represent TF on relevant forums when needed
- Assist in social media and events when and where required
Requirements:
- Minimum three years fundraising and marketing experience in the NGO sector
- Proven experience in developing fundraising
- Proven skills in meeting annual fundraising targets
- Firm grasp of SA development sector issues
- English communication skills (verbal & written)
- Ability to work independently in a diverse group and changing environment
- Financial skills
- Relevant degree is advantageous
