GBV PROGRAMME CO-ORDINATOR, ACTIONAID IRELAND 367 views0 applications

Salary: to be negotiated depending on experience, 5-year fixed-term contract.

Location: Kenya, Nepal or Ethiopia with international travel

Deadline: 12 noon Friday 24th March 2023

Interview: to be held on Wednesday 12th April 2023

ActionAid works with women and children who are excluded and live in poverty, as they take the lead in claiming their human rights, and changing systems in society that are unjust. The women in these communities take the lead – they decide their priorities, and we support them as they engage with the rest of their community and the wider power structures in society, to bring about change for the better that benefits the whole community. We also work together to hold our governments and international institutions to account, campaigning side by side to achieve meaningful long-term change to create a more just and caring world.

ActionAid Ireland’s strategy 2022-2027 is to create a just and caring world where women’s human rights are respected through addressing the structural causes of Gender Based Violence (GBV), promoting women’s leadership in humanitarian contexts and amplifying feminist alternatives on economic and climate justice. ActionAid Ireland’s strategy also makes clear commitments to anti-racism, shifting power and decolonisation, embedding learning and evaluation and safeguarding. Human rights based approaches are at the heart of ActionAid’s work.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced programming advisor, with a strong understanding of international development programming addressing GBV and promoting women’s economic empowerment. This position is newly established within ActionAid Ireland and you will work as part of a passionate, committed programme’s team to deliver on our organisational Strategy. You will be committed to shifting power, locally led development and applying intersectional feminist approaches throughout programme and policy initiatives.

You will have strong experience in GBV and gender transformative approaches and the ability to link this experience to relevant policy dialogues. You will play a key role in the design and implementation of high-quality programming, particularly in responding to, and addressing the structural causes of GBV. Within our largest multi-country Women’s Rights Programme, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and leadership in Ethiopia, Kenya and Nepal on approaches that prevent, mitigate, and respond to GBV – ensuring they are survivor centred. You will work closely with women’s rights officers and strengthen skills and knowledge across the programme in the areas of GBV and women’s rights. You will coordinate learning and knowledge sharing among ActionAid staff and partners and support MEL systems to be rooted in gender and power analysis.

You will be a champion for women’s and girls’ rights and passionate about feminist change and leadership. You will be an empathetic and supportive colleague, able to build trusting and authentic relationships with colleagues and partners.

We are committed to continually improving the diversity of our workforce and therefore encourage applications from all sections of the community.
