Duration: 1 year (renewable upon satisfactory performance)

Position Overview

The Gender and Social Inclusion Officer will resource the “Locally Led Indigenous Nature-Based Solutions for Climate Change Adaptation in Zimbabwe” (LINCZ) project in Zimbabwe. The officer will champion gender equality within the project’s scope, empowering women and girls while challenging entrenched norms and roles. The officer will be responsible for implementation of the gender equality strategy for the LINCZ project, monitoring and report on gender equality outcomes, support gender analysis, provide training and capacity strengthening for implementing partners, and ensure the project aligns with set gender equality and empowerment objectives.

  • Responsible for ensuring gender and social inclusion are comprehensively integrated into all aspects of the LINCZ project, ensuring gender equality informs and drives program implementation.
  • Ensure safeguarding measures are upheld.
  • Develop documents and tools for operationalizing project gender strategy and for effective monitoring of progress towards gender equality objectives.
  • Monitor and report on quantitative and qualitative results towards gender equality outcomes, ensuring results are disaggregated by sex and age, in collaboration with MEAL Officer.
  • Assess partners’ capacity and provide capacity strengthening for implementing partner organizations to achieve gender equality outcomes, including the design and delivery of workshops and learning events.
  • Regularly report on gender equality progress, contributing to donor policy objectives.

Qualifications, skills, and desired experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in gender studies, international development, social sciences, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in gender programming, with a strong emphasis on climate change adaptation and sustainable development.
  • Deep familiarity with gender equality policies, including Feminist International Assistance Policy and Gender Equality Policy.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present evidence-based success stories, lessons learned, and case studies.
  • Ability to navigate, advocate, and promote gender equality in projects involving locally led indigenous knowledge systems.
  • Strong familiarity with gender analysis methodologies and tools, including the Gender Equality Mainstreaming (GEM) tool.
  • Expertise in designing and operationalizing gender equality strategies and conducting gender-based analyses.
  • Experience in developing and delivering gender equality training programs.
  • Proven ability to track, analyze, and report on gender equality outcomes using sex and age disaggregated data.
