Salary: £30,775 – £35,798 p.a

Starting Salary: £30,775 – £32,223 p.a. (plus a generous benefit package which includes; Mobility Allowance, Pension and Rest & Recuperation)

Contract: 2 Year Unaccompanied Contract (renewable for another 2 years)

Job Purpose

CAFOD is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for GRP Boatbuilder/Mechanic

Specialist for an anticipated EU funded project in Liberia. The project will seek to support the development of a self-sustaining and pro-active Fisheries Co-Management Association, responsible for provision of a wide range of services to its members, including members involved in all aspects of the fisheries value chain in the region, and reporting of these activities to other stakeholders, scientists and local and national Government.

The position will be full time and based in Harper, Maryland County of Liberia.

Job Scope

The GRP Boatbuilder/Mechanic Specialist shall be responsible for providing training and support in the construction, maintenance and repair of outboard engines, simple beach launched vessels, and related equipment.

The post-holder will be also responsible for building effective working relationships with peers in the Project team as well as with colleagues in the Liberia team. This is in order to develop and maintain horizontal links, and to foster between team, learning, innovation and good practice. The role has also a number of project functions linked to work with Project team Lead, Master Fishers Specialist and other key staff in the team, including supporting the development and operation of a suitable chandlery, maintaining project infrastructure and providing technical advice to the project.

This position is contingent on CAFOD being awarded funding and is anticipated to begin in December 2019.

Accountability

The post-holder reports to the CAFOD Programme Manager (EU) Liberia

The post-holder delivers programmes within agreed budget.

The post holder is not a budget holder
