Mission for Essential Drugs and Supplies (MEDS) is a faith-based health solutions provider founded by an ecumenical partnership of the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) and the Christian Health Association of Kenya (CHAK). The Organization’s core mandate is to provide reliable and affordable Health Products and Technologies, Quality Assurance and Health Systems Strengthening Services. MEDS was established in 1986 and serves clients spread throughout Kenya, other regions in Africa and beyond.

The Board of Directors is seeking to recruit a suitable self-driven, results oriented and visionary Head of Supply Chain & Logistics with good professional and ethical standing to head the Supply Chain and Logistics Department.

Holder of the position is responsible for overseeing and managing the Organization’s overall supply chain and logistics strategy and reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and maintain appropriate policies and procedures to guide and direct business operations
  2. Provide leadership to ensure customer needs and expectations are met
  3. Oversee a large workforce of staff in timely processing and delivery of client orders
  4. Oversee procurement and inventory control processes to ensure sourcing of correct and cost-effective products and services
  5. Negotiate large contracts with suppliers
  6. Provide leadership in inventory management, ensure accurate record keeping and effective performance
  7. Implement innovative solutions to improve overall performance of supply chain processes
  8. Implement new technologies and stay alert to new trends in the health sector
  9. Prepare and/or interpret departmental contractual/legal agreements to safeguard MEDS interests
  10. Plan and approve departmental expenditures for control and accountability
  11. Ensure effective performance management to achieve operational objectives and targets

Candidate Profile:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy
  2. Master’s Degree in Supply Chain Management or equivalent business related field
  3. Registration with Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB)
  4. Demonstrated leadership with a track record of achievements backed with a minimum of 5 years experience in a Pharmaceutical supply chain organization of which 3 years is in senior management
  5. Strategic orientation, business acumen, interpersonal skills and integrity

The organization has since grown to shape the medical supply chain in Kenya and the wider sub Saharan region by not only providing reliable, quality, affordable essential drugs and medical supplies to over 2300 clients but also to offering capacity building programmes for health workers, quality control and other pharmaceutical services.
