The Health and Nutrition Expert is responsible for leading Nutrition Information System technical working group (NIS TWG), Provide technical support to ensure quality implementation of the health, nutrition and care practices programs, as well as liaising with various external partners.

Key activities in your role will include

Process: Management of programs and field implementation

Task

  • Contribute to the development of proposals related to health and nutrition -Support development of Assessment protocols, implementation, and report of different surveys (SMART, SQUEAC, IYCF, KPC)
  • Ensure quality implementation of the planned interventions and activities.
  • Analyze health and nutrition situations and develop innovative approaches adapting to changes in context
  • Monitor quality of training targeted to Ministry of health staffs, mobile team, ACF and partner staffs
  • Supervise quality implementation of outreach, OTP, SC, and TSFP services
  • Regularly analyze nutrition and health data and share information for decision makers
  • Liaison with other departments (WASH, FSL,) in planning and executing activities to ensure effective response
  • Strengthen integration of nutrition and health services to all patients (IMCI, EPI, RH) and Nutrition beneficiaries (malnourished children U5 and PLWs) as per national guidelines
  • Strengthen internal and external referral system
  • Monitor quantity and quality of Therapeutic supplies including expiry date follow-up (RUTF, RUSF, F-100, F-75…)
  • Develop tools to monitor medicines inventory, expire date and consumption rate, and encourage health facilities to exercise early request.
  • Archive Nutrition and health department documents including training/supervision reports, distribution lists, surveys reports, statistical and narrative reports and pictures per project
  • Share quarterly case stories and success stories.
  • Alert Nutrition and Health coordinator on technical gaps and issues as seen in the field of nutrition and health programs

Process: Coordination and representation

Task

  • Lead Nutrition Information System technical working group (NIS TWG)
  • Represent ACF in joint need assessment plans
  • Collaborate with local partners and monitor quality implementation of delegated activities and services
  • Collaborate with UNICEF, WFP and WHO on stock management
  • Represent ACF in Nutrition cluster, SAG, IPC AMN TWG meeting (in the absence of Nutrition and health coordinator)

Process: Staff Management

Task

  • Participate in the recruitment of health and nutrition staff for the country program, providing advice on technical skills.
  • Build technical capacity of health and nutrition officers including local partner staffs
  • Promote the health and wellbeing of the staffs by ensuring health and safety in the workplace
  • Oversight of the technical aspects of the health and nutrition projects, including recommendations for health staff objectives, training, promotion and disciplinary action
  • supporting line managers in inductions and appraisals of health and nutrition staff in regard to technical skills

Process: Proactively support ACTION AGAINST HUNGERs commitments to gender equality, child protection and disability sensitivity

Task

  • Read and ensure a full understanding of Action Against Hunger’s Gender Minimum Standards & Child Protection Policies, asking questions and/or for support when necessary
  • Implement all work-related activities with a gender, disability and child protection lens, considering the different needs, concerns and ideas of our staff and beneficiaries
  • Ensure the incorporation of gender equity principles in all policies and activities
  • Encourage the participation of all genders in meeting and on committees
  • Help build an inclusive office environment where people do not feel disadvantaged or judged according to their gender or limited due to manageable disability.

Do you meet the profile required criteria?

  • Training: Medical Doctor / Nutritionist/ Nurse /Public Health specialist with SMART survey certificate and experience in implementation of nutrition assessments, the management of malnutrition, reproductive and child health programs (at primary health care level) in emergency and post-emergency situations.
  • Technical specific knowledge: Nutrition assessments (SMART, Coverage and IYCF/KPC surveys), Community management of acute malnutrition (CMAM), Primary health care, reproductive care, care practices, IYCF.
  • Previous experience (years): 4 years of previous related experience in nutrition and health.
  • Humanitarian sector knowledge: At least 4 years of experience in humanitarian sector.
  • Organization knowledge: At least 2 years of experience in humanitarian organization.
  • Languages: English, Arabic desirable.
  • IT systems: Windows, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PPT…)
  • Mobility: (national/ international) International
  • Commitment to Gender Equality: Valuable prior experience in issues related to the promotion of gender equality or personal commitment to gender equality.

Our remuneration package:

  • We offer immediate incorporation to a dynamic international network with the following remuneration package:
  • Formal work contract: 12 months renewable.
  • Base: Port Sudan (Sudan)
  • Salary: according to Action Against Hunger salary scale and to candidate’s previous experience.

This packaged includes:

  • Expatriate insurance (health, live, repatriation, travel, etc.)
  • Break flights/trips to defined area: (break per diem: 215 EUR)
  • Yearly holiday return flight ticket
  • Accommodation and housing expenses (in shared guest house)
  • Travel costs to and from the mission.
  • 25 working days of paid leave per year
  • Emotional care service at the service of the employee and family.
