Child Safeguarding:

Level 3 – the responsibilities of the post may require the post holder to have regular contact with or access to children or young people.

ROLE PURPOSE: This position is to assure on time quick and effective response to all emergency calls and provision of accurate info regarding the inquiries, in compliance with SC and UNHCR guidelines for emergency referrals, and documenting each received call and its response.

Under the direct supervision of Health Officer for emergency cases the Hotline Coordinator will be responsible for managing the incoming calls, considering ZERO missed call , being informed by hotline coordinator, close following up of the admission, service provision, case progress, and discharge processes, and providing the field reports.

Reports to: Senior officer for emergency cases.

Dimensions: Save the Children International works in 13 regions in Egypt with a current staff complement of approximately 250+ staff and current expenditure of approximately US $8 million each year.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Project Implementation

  • Responds to all emergency calls received on the emergency line.
  • Refers the patients according to the medical case to closest healthcare provider considering public hospital as 1st choice, if not applicable; the closest appropriate contracted healthcare provider according to the medical intervention needed and incompliance with SC and UNHCR guidelines for referral of emergency cases.
  • Communicates a clear message to the patient and/or his/her companion that if he decided to refer himself to another hospital he will not be reimbursed for the medical services according to UNHCR policy.
  • Communicates on spot with Care Coordinator for emergency in the respective governorate to inform him the PT name, phone NO., medical condition, and the action taken.
  • Refers the non-emergency cases accordingly to respective hubs or related partner.

Reporting and documentation

  • Registers the patient’s essential data (PT name, UNHCR Reg. NO., governorate, nationality, age, sex, phone NO., Hub), diagnosis, and the medical condition in emergency data sheet
  • Registers on spot, the action taken in emergency Data sheet
  • Records the follow up of the emergency case in emergency data sheet
  • Record all non-emergency responses.
  • Prepares and presents the monthly report to Senior Officer for Emergency Cases

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor degree of Medicine,
  • Experience in Emergency Medicine is strongly preferred.
  • Strong Stress management
  • Strong government relations and networking skills is a plus
  • Previous work with refugees/asylum seekers is a plus.
  • Report writing skills in English required.
  • ·Good knowledge of Child Safeguarding will be an added advantage
  • Commitment to Save the Children International values
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
